I’m a bit confused as to why the ACNA isn’t recognized yet as part of the communion, but GAFCON remain a part? What is the motive behind this?
The Anglican Communion already has a fully recognized formal representative Church from this country. It’s TEC. Only one representative Province to a given area. No room for ACNA.

Unless…

I think TEC’s unrepentance is a given. I think in 3 years, TEC is excommunicated, but I think they will leave before that happens. Either way, ACNA is the new representative to the Communion from the US. Being given a full voice and full voting privileges for the entire gathering can only send one signal.
My crystal ball is cloudy. Who knows what will happen. But we live in interesting times.

I wonder how this will affect many conservative TEC parishes? More of what happened in SC?

Ah. I see. Didn’t realize that was a rule…

That’s even harder to speculate on. Way harder. Do the conservative parishes now have more faith that they can right the ship? That would encourage them to stay. Do the liberals walk? That would send the conservatives out the door.

I’d be surprised if there was another unhappy separation of an entire diocese, as happened, varyingly, in SC and 4 other former TEC dioceses. In individual parishes, maybe.

One troubling thing is that it only seems to address the creating of same sex “marriage” rites. That is how the Canadians escaped this. They haven’t made theirs official yet. They were just named as “in error” on the matter.

It says nothing about the promotion of homosexuality and the consecration of practicing homosexuals to the clergy. I guess you can only fight so much at one time.

I imagine that is exactly what is going on. GAFCON is also upset about the ordaining women bishops, no?

Has the TEC made a statement? No doubt they will protest this treatment.

I think this is more of nothing. TEC misses a couple of votes and then re-enters the Communion. Anglicanism is now a church with 2 theologies, or maybe more appropriately, without a theology.

I’m not sure. Again, we’ll have to see. But what makes you say Anglicanism has “2 theologies” and what are those 2?

I really don’t think this is more of the same. It took a miracle to get all the primates to even show up at this gathering. If TEC is allowed to return with full status without repentance, there will be nothing left of the Communion. The Communion’s future has 3 options: TEC repentance, TEC leaving on their own, or TEC being pushed out further, not excluding excommunication.
