Does anyone know of any good Anglican or Episcopalian vs. Roman Catholic debates that I can listen to??? Any help here would be much appreciated.

What is your purpose? Beliefnet.com’s “Anglican Debate” board typically has a lot of arguments between ex-Catholic Episcopalians and Catholics (and the odd pro-Catholic Episcopalian such as myself). But I wonder why you want to find such a thing. (If you are looking for formal recorded debates you probably won’t find any, BTW.) As I have asked you before, why not just move on? If you can’t, is it perhaps because you are not as comfortable in Anglicanism or as “finished” with Catholicism as you claim? Or are you trying to prove to Catholics the error of their ways? What is at stake for you in these debates?

Just curious, thats all. I am very comfortable in Anglicanism but I am always eager to learn. If i had the power of God, I would change everything but if I had the wisdom of God, I would change nothing.

Since you are pretty new here, you will find you can’t convince people their beliefs. I learned that the first few weeks when I join here. I had the zeal to convert Non-Catholics. I was wrong, I could not do it.
Catholics here will disagree with you, and vice versa. Conversion does not come from a man, but from God. If someone wants to seek the truth, they will find it.

I doubt you’ll be able to find any to actually LISTEN to, but GKC has references two very good and informative works about the papal Bul Apostolicae Curae (the decision that Anglican Holy Orders were invalid). Not really a debate, but definitely well worth the read on a very important subject in terms of Catholic/Anglican relations. For the Catholic perspective: Fr. Francis Clark’s ANGLICAN ORDERS AND DEFECT OF INTENTION. For the rebuttal: Fr. J. J. Hughes’ ABSOLUTELY NULL AND UTTERLY VOID and STEWARDS OF THE LORD.

Unfortunately a lot of the better blogs with Anglican/Catholic discussions and debates are now defunct. Al Kimel’s Pontifications was one of the best in that arena. Many of the discussions here on the forums have been very edifying as well, and I wished I could find a way to invite the participants who were on Pontifications here to discuss the finer points of Anglican and Catholic (and Eastern!) theology with GKC and Edwin (who are some of the most well-informed posters on Anglicanism here).
Since you’re already on StandFirm, you’ll see some good Anglican vs Catholic debates on there, but the Anglican position there is a very Reformed one, so the arguments can get VERY heated and polemical.
The Common Anglican blog was another good site for debate, but from an Anglo-Catholic perspective. Again, I believe the site is now no longer updated since the host is off to seminary.
I know I’m missing some good sites and I’ll post them if I can remember!!

Yes, if you want to see some really good discussions, search for some of the posts by GKC and Contarini. They’re both very knowledgeable about Anglicanism and the issues surrounding it.
