Anglican orthodox heading for reunion with Orthodox?

TAC is a group of orthodox Anglicans upset with the direction of their church. They are represented worldwide now. Hopinbg as a group to unite with Orthodoxy or Rome. Unfortunately the Orthodox seem to be giving this more attention. They are on the verge of inter-communion with TAC in Africa.

Interesting anyway. Better the TAC group reunites as a body with the Orthodox than splinter into many branchses which probably will happen if they don’t find a “home” relatively soon.

There’s no good doctrinal reason why traditional Anglo-Catholics can’t unite with the Orthodox (those who really are Anglo-Catholics–the old Anglican muddle survives among Continuers more than many of them admit, and when push comes to shove it’s surprising how Protestant some of them are). It’s pretty much purely a cultural thing and a matter of Anglican pride.

It is sad that, at this point in time, one could say, “Some Anglicans are headed for (re)union with [insert a religious group here],” and there would be a group of Anglicans who are.

Right now, it’s as Robin Williams observed. He said that what he liked about being an Episcopalian is that no matter what one believes, there will be another Episcopalian who believes it, too.

Anglicanism isn’t going to split. It has shattered into pieces, the number of which is yet to be tallied. And for believing Anglican Christians (some of whom are friends of mine) this is sad, trying, and close to heartbreaking.

One of my Uni Profs is an Anglican clergy and he tells of the terrible confusion among the church at the moment; the bickering; judgemental mindset; devisive arguments and dissention bordering on bigotry and heresy!

I didn’t have the heart to tell him that some of the material he teaches may point to one of the main factors why! Quoting score upon score of scholars (some are actually Catholics) as though they hold the authoritative position in matters regarding faith (and morals) means diddly squat…unless you have THE CORRECT ANSWERS to check them against!

Unfortunately, looking at The Catholic Church (their root!) let alone asking IT seems to be not an option to be entertained.

Perhaps they prefer to take the long way Home.
