Anglicanism, where can i look to find their official theology

I understand there is quite a spectrum within anglicansim… ranging from the low evangelical church to the high anglo-catholic church. Where can i get an authorative statement of Anglicans various theological beliefs?

I basically want to know what they believe

They believe in everything and in nothing! In Anglicanism you can believe (or disbelieve) in anything you like, provided that you don’t make too much noise about it! 🙂

The original poster did NOT ask you for your opinion attacking Anglicanism, just where to find beliefs.

Depends on where in Anglicanism you look. But this is more accurate than otherwise.

Officially, Anglicanism is Creedal and adheres to the main Church Creeds.

However…

I did not know this… why is this so?

I am a baptized anglican thinking of converting to Rome, only because i have grown in my faith through a RC community at university… but i do not know much about my own tradition and would like to explore what my faith tradition/heritage teaches before swimming to rome

I haven’t noticed that Anglicans were particular targets, myself. And if a given attack is unwarranted, or historically inaccurate, I make a practice of replying. It’s sort of a hobby.

But there are aspects of of contemporary Anglicanism that merit criticism. I do that, too.

Why don’t you talk to the Episcopal (Anglican) priest/ministers at your school? They may also give you some recommended readings.

Did you go to the Episcopal church before college? Were you confirmed? In a youth group? What’s the Episcopal student group like at your university? Ever tried them?

I think that you have already made up your mind. Young people like to be ‘told’ what to do or think, and I suspect that you are no exception.
