Anglicanorum Coetibus, which parishes?

Does anyone know of a resource that shows which parishes in the U.S. will be entering communion with Rome? Just curious. I’ve read alot about it, but it’s been very vague as to who will be actually doing this. Thanks.

At this time there no list of parishes. Until there are Ordinariates established I think that we won’t know which parishes are in. Once there is an Ordinariate and Anglicans/TEC members actually see how the process works and the details I believe that more of them will join.

I see your in California, so am I. I would love to have an Anglican Use parish close, but don’t know any Anglicans/TEC people anymore. If there is even a small group of Anglicans wanting to be part of the Ordinariate and who wish to start some type of mission in the future, they can approach the Catholic Bishop or it might be best to contact one of the Anglican Use priests for advice. I would direct anyone to Fr. Phillips of OLA parish in San Antonio, Texas. He is a great priest and very knowledgeable about what is going on within the movement.

Until the Synods are held and each parish formally announces we will not know, not even the Anglican TAC Bishops will know. They will have an idea prior, nothing definite until. From my understanding the Synods in the States are to start being held in the May/June time frame. A Synod must be called x days out to give time for arrangements, picking of parish representative etc. The Canons of the TAC determine the number of days.

At this moment, the House of Bishops in the States, Canada,Australia, and the TAC in Britian have asked for the ordinariate to be created. They have established the interim governing councils. They are waiting on the CDF to respond formally. That the Synods are being called is a good indication that the CDF has responded unoffically and will be responding offically soon. The Anglican Bishops must like the unoffical response to be going to the next step in the process.

In the States the governing council will be comprised of 3 Anglican Bishops or priests and 3 Catholic Priests of the Anglican Use. Though I do not have access to the list or even know, except the document say the council will be created thus, I pray Fr. Phillps of OLA is one of them. He was there to advise the Anglican Bishops back in March and his name is on the request as endorsed by the Anglican Use Parish of the Pastoral Provision.
After speaking with him, his advice and counsel helped me walk the bridge, I believe he would be the best candidate for Ordinary for the Ordianariate. Let us see what Rome says.

So at this point the TAC, and other Anglicans who will join, are waiting on Rome to speak.

Check TAC websites to stay up to date or Fr. Longnecker’s site (fromer anglican now catholic priest). If I hear anything offical, well by the time I get here ya’ll already are talking about it!

As to Anglican Use, ArchBishop Gomez is very friendly to AU. He even learned the AU Mass for when he made his visits to OLA and Fr. Phillips. Once he replaces ArchBishop Mahoney, who I hear opposed AU, the atmosphere for AU parishes will be better in my opinion.

Even things are looking up in my area. Another Anglican priest and possibly his parish have approached the ordinariate to begin talks. His jurisdiction is very overtly hostile to the Anglican Constitution. I say this to let people know there are many Anglicans watching and waiting. Those who are vocally opposed and think none in their jurisdiction will go to Rome, will be surprised when the time to be counted has arrived. We don’t know how many, we do know it will be in waves. That is why the ordinariate is for the long term and not a one time deal.

I agree with you completely that Fr. Phillips should be the Ordinary in the US, he is a wonderful priest and understands both Anglicans and Catholics. He is a peace maker also. I have the greatest regard for him. I don’t feel he would like the position, maybe if he could still be over OLA he would consider it. But I also know that he understands as a Catholic he would be obedient to whatever Rome asks.

I believe that I mentioned this to him many months ago. I have felt this way for such a long time. As far as Bishop Gomez goes, Los Angeles and California is such a difficult place to be traditional in any sense, he will have no problem if there are any people interested in an Anglican Use parish, but my concern is how to turn around some of the innovations in some of the Latin Rite parishes. I will pray for him.

There are many Catholics in California who would love the Anglican Use liturgy, if they had a chance to attend one. I belong to a traditional parish and people come from many miles away to attend. It offers the OF and EF.

I am glad you were able to speak to Fr. Phillips and I believe that the Holy Spirit is working within him. Sorry I can’t say enough about him as although he is in Texas he has been like a pastor to me for several years.

There won’t be any official parishes until there is a Ordinary and an Ordinariate. However, there are lists of Anglican Use parishes as well as parishes who are part of the TAC, the latter which has already voted to join the Catholic Church. Now the question is will all the parishes, priests and bishops follow?
