Anglicans and Episcopalians/Lutherans return to Rome

There have been some stories here and there about Anglicans returning to Rome, either solo or by parish community. What would be the “usual process” for that - As an Anglican priest I have often thought of the similarities and the beauty of the Roman Liturgy, but wonder how one would go about it.

I doubt there will be too many on this forum who have much in the way of personal experience with this. My suggestion would be to go to pastoralprovision.org, email Msgr. Stetson from the link at the bottom, and ask for more information or a contact to start talking to informally. From what I have heard, the Ordinariate (per Anglicanorum Coetibus) for North America is still in the process of being set up, with Cardinal Wuerl of D.C. appointed as the (Roman) liaison. My guess is that at this point you’d get a more personal answer and better leads on personal contacts from someone like Msgr. Stetson, though. 🙂

Also, Fr. Dwight Longenecker, the (moderately) popular Catholic blogger, is a married former Episcopalian who was received under the Pastoral Provision and ordained in 2006. I’d be willing to bet he’d give you the time of day if you shot him an email.
 
There is a MarkBrown I think on these forums who is an Anglican priest (Fr. Mark) who’s coming home to Rome.

This organization has offered tremendous support and guidance to Protestant ministers who want to explore the Catholic faith, but who might also risk their livelihood in the process.

You can also call the Catholic diocesan office nearest you and ask to speak with the Vocations Director.

I am a former Anglican priest who has submitted a vocation package to Cardinal Wuerl.

Step one. Decide if you want to go the pastoral route or the Ordinariate route. Though it is generally thought the pastoral provision will fold into the Ordinariate.

Step two. if the pastoral provision, contact the the link you were given.
If Ordinariate, contact Cardinal Wuerls office, specifically Father Scott Hurd for further instruction. Or you can contact Fr. Christopher Phillips of Our Lady of the Atonement in San Antonio Tx.

Step Three. with either option…wait.
