If they came to Rome because they professed ‘One Faith, One Church, One Authority on earth’ then yes,

But if they are coming to Rome out of protest to the rest of the Anglican Communion against the ordination of women and gays, then a definite NO!

Catholic, in many cases. Not RC, though.

Funny, I thought the Church in England was under the authority of the Roman Pontiff until the English Reformation. Hm. I bet Augustine of Canterbury and Thomas Becket would be surprised to find out they weren’t subject to Papal authority.

Sure. But that’s not how I read the question I replied to. It’s obviously referring to the post-Hank period. Or so it seems.

IN the world, not everyone is going to have the same religion and agree with you. Don’t try to convert them, just let them believe what they want and get over it. Wouldn’t you find it annoying if a group of Buddhists tried to convert you? The fact is that a true Buddhist wouldn’t. Live and let live is much better then someof the convertions by fear I see.

I am a life-long committed practicing catholic.

But I will be the first to speak against Anglicans defecting to Rome.

We are different in culture. Anglicansim is just to rich and diverse to risk re=alignment with Rome. It is my hope it will never happen
hola Sixtus

what is so monolithic about Catholic culture? we are universal… there are something like 23 indivual Churches in the Roman Catholic communion and i have no idea how many rites…

if the Anglicans believe in our catechism and desire to be in full communion with the Holy Father then this should be encouraged. the Church does not belong to us, she belongs to Christ… we had no right to break it up, and it is our responsibility to put it back together.

Annoying? Over it? We’re talking about eternal stakes here. I hope I can look squarely at God and say I showed people the way to the Truth. I hope He doesn’t say I never loved my neighbor enough to warn my neighbor about the consequences of sin and to explain the way to live forever. I hope I am not one of those of whom Jesus will be ashamed when He returns: those who were ashamed of Him in this world. I pray for courage.:gopray2:

Except we have that little thing called “the Great Commission.”

I’m certainly glad the Apostle Paul didn’t think like you.:p;)

Gotcha 👍 sorry if I came across snarky

From quote::Except we have that little thing called “the Great Commission.”

Well there’s the answer to the never ending arguements between the Anglicans and the Catholics. OK…you got me.

Result: DO NOT DEFECT TO ROME. You can stay in your Church. After all you have the “the Great Commission.” to guide your destiny to Christ.

Hey, there’s a whole boatload of charity in that post. Did you even bother to read the context? I was referring to evangelism in general as a characteristic of Christianity.:tsktsk:

If we were concerned only with our physical lives you would be correct. But we are commnaded to share the Gospel with everyone-so as to help everyone live and live and lived for all of eternity

Well, yes. Now I see where we disagree. I think shoving people into Christianity is wrong because most people already are saved. What matters is not the religious beliefs(although they may help) but what is in the person’s heart. I draw the line with Satanists though because everything in that religion is definately NOT for the highest good.

Shoving people into Christianity? Who does that?

Most people alll already savevd? On what do you base that opinion.?

It would seem you are somewhat confused about his religion stuff. You claim to be a Christian/Wiccan/Buddhist Three contradictory belief systems(although i am sure you mind they are perfectly compatible-kinda like the Muslim/Episcopal priest we have been talking about lately )

I am glad to see you draw the line at Satanists. I am sure that makes everyone here respect your opinion a lot more. I am a little confused on how in your belief system you can reject them being all that matters is “whatever is your heart”, whatever that means.

Mostly where I live people do that. They use fear, sometimes illegal violence, to convert people. And that’s why so many people in America have very little faith.

The reason I agree with, but not nessesarily follow, almost all religions is because almost all have good intentions. They all have love as the greatest power, some form of God, and rituals to manifest the love from their God. The only difference is in the ways that they do this. Satanism is creepy and evil and that is why I really reject it.

The core foundations of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Wicca, Buddhism, Confuciasiam etc. are all pure. If we listen to each one of these teachings we will be much more open and learn a whole lot more about what we believe. This is one of the keys if we are to ever be truly unified together. So yes, if you have good intention then you are already saved.

I also believe that hell is not eternal. People may also create their own hells. But where the Devil exists no human soul can enter. Our souls can’t handle tht evil without being destroyed, and God would never let that happen. In the end, all humans are saved. God would do anything to get us to heaven. Even if a person killed thousands, they wouldn’t deserve eternal torture. If you think they would, then you are truly as sick as a Satanist.

I’m not confused about what I believe. I have typed most of it out here for you. To you my path may seem incompatible and confusing, but that is only because you don’t fully know any other religion other than your own and you reject what other’s have to say. But it is my path, and makes sense to me. Being my path, that’s all that really matters.

Of course it is impossble to refute ancedotal evidence. I dont know of very many Chrisians who try and shove Christianity down people throats as that would be counterproductive. Most of us follow the words of St Francis Assissi “Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary”

So all it takes to get to heaven is “good intentions” Based on whos’ definition of “good intentions” If, BTW, you really beleive this then you should drop the “Christian” title form you profile-you are not one. As In reacall one of the eternal truisms is “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”
The core foundations of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Wicca, Buddhism, Confuciasiam etc. are all pure
It is evdident that you dont know what the core foundations of Christianinty are. If they are pure then those of Buddhism and Wiccan cant be pure. Jesus Christ is the core of Christianity . the others dont recognize him as the Son of God

So knoweldge is the key to Salvation? And how can religions that do not beleive Jesus was the Son of God can ever unify with Chrisitnaity. It is quite a strange belief system you have created for yourself.

And you base all this on what?

Actually the only confusion is the you assertion your are a Christian/Wiccan/Buddhist. you are none of these. You are embracing Gnosticism. That has been around for several thousand years and it will lead you to spiritual;problems either in this world or the next

I know a lot about Wicca and uddhism. i have been a believer in both those religions, and read a lot about them before and during my time in them. I know lots of people who still are Wiccans and Buddhists. Their core beliefs aren’t really even compatible with each other, never mind with Christianity. Wicca holds that there are two main gods and plenty of nature spirits. Buddhism denies any literal gods but allows for the forces of nature to be personified if that “helps” a Buddhist to comprehend the way forces of natureinteract. Wicca says life is good, desire is healthy and suffering is just part of the cycle. To prevent it, Wiccans may use magic. Buddhists say life is suffering, desire causes suffering and following the Eightfold Path ends desire. The Eightfold Path is simply “rightness” in eight areas of life. They don’t advocate that you end suffering by fulfilling desire, but by killing it off.
Christianity holds that there is just one God, Who hates to see people worship other gods, and Who exists as three equal Persons. He sent His Son, Who is also God, to become a physically real human being, to teach us, warn us to turn from sin, and then die for our sins. He then rose again, defeating the power of death. Desire isn’t good or bad. The issue is what one desires. And a good life is impossible without believing, and acting in accordance with that belief, in the one God. Those who don’t believe that Jesus Christ is god and the Son of God and that He died for us, those who believe other religions and worship false gods, and those who prefer to keep sinning wilfully rather than let God wrok through them, are not going to like death.
These are not mix-and-match beliefs.

Luke 16:19-31
"Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day."And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores."Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried."In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. "And he cried out and said, ‘that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’ "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. ‘And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’ "And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house-- for I have five brothers–in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ "But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ "But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ “But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”
Was the rich man in Jesus story here saved? If he wasn’t saved; according to the story what terrible sins was the rich man guilty of ?
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
Wow! Sounds like a whole lot of people aren’t saved!

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Acts 16:17
Following after Paul and us, she kept crying out, saying,
“These men are bond-servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation.”
