Anglicans: Why don't you come home to Rome?

why aren’t you RC? i thought you were anglican catholic.
I’m an Anglican, whose position in Anglicanism is best described as Anglo-Catholic. Anglo-Catholics are those Anglicans who sound like me. This is contrasted with other sorts of Anglicans who are best described as reformed, or sometimes evangelical, or occasionally, pagan.

I’m not RC because I don’t believe all that is required to be affirmed, de fide, in order to be one. If you find a thread in which katze and I are talking, you’ll see that he thinks I’m not Anglican because I don’t accept something he thinks is de fide to be an Anglican. Perplexing, I know.

Otherwise, I’m relatively harmless.

paranoia is usually the first sign that something is amiss. I’d not dally about getting that appointment. I’ve really had enough of you people. Mostly just a bunch of nut cases who have somehow been given access to computers. Geesh, you folks need help. I’m out of here. There are precious few Christians here, but a lot of pretenders using religion as a means to release pent up hatred and venom to the world. Enjoy your little self-created h e l l .
you are funny alexia. no harm was meant. i wasn’t on this thread a few months ago. however, you seem to have a lot of pent up anger and if it is true you did come here as spirit meadow, i guess that means you are a pretender.

anyhow, i’m glad you were able to say what you really feel about us. hope you feel better now.

GKC - why don’t you join the TAC then, who may eventually be brought into the RCC? yes, i am very perplexed!!

If the TAC believes everything Rome does, then GKC probably doesn’t believe de fide what the TAC would require for communion with them.

But what do I know, I’m Lutheran LOL

I asked a conservative Anglican Priest when I first became Anglican after leaving the Baptist Church I belonged to “What is Anglicanism?” He just smiled and looked at me and said “you have to BE Anglican and follow the Anglican Way for a while to understand”. Being an Anglican is not easy, like Kermit says “its not easy being green”. Seriously if you want to understand the Anglican Way you need two essentials:
  1. The Bible
  2. The Book of Common Prayer( the 1662 Church of England BCP, the 1928 American BCP, the recent BCP of the Reformed Episcopal Church. And of course the Catechism found in the BCP AND the 39 Articles of Religion in the BCP.
also the Big Three
  1. Scripture
  2. Tradition
  3. Reason
often called the Three Legged Stool of the Anglican Way
and then there is also Lancelot Andrewes “5 Finger Rule”
  1. One Canon
  2. Two Testaments: Old and New
  3. Three Creeds: Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian
  4. The first four Ecumenical Councils
  5. The first five centuries of the undivided Church.

in other words, you consider yourself both anglican and catholic, but not roman.

or do you think being anglican, covers the catholic part?

because i had all of the things you mentioned before i joined the RCC in july.

the anglican church i attended hadn’t been to GAFCON yet, but eventually
they were going to go back to the prayerbook of 1662. and the priest was installed as an anglican priest - he was episcopal before. and he did attend GAFCON.

in other words, you think you can be catholic without the Pope and the magesterium?

just trying to clarify things.

Which Anglican church did you attend prior to becoming RC? Just curious.

a group of us had just formed an anglican church here in phoenix last august.
we had gone under the province of uganda with orombi. i also remember a bishop guernsey from some place back east who came to speak. the priest was installed this past may and he attended GAFCON. before i left, he had mentioned that they probably would go back to the old prayer book of 1662.

i just felt like things weren’t moving fast enough. so i joined the RCC.

i wish i could have known what it was to be truly anglican. because i think all of the things listed in the previous e-mail which is the Anglican way, is
a beautiful religion. unfortunately, it has gone into so many different directions.

this is probably a dumb question, but is there something in the 39 articles which is displeasing to the Pope?

I most certainly do say that the AUTHENTIC Anglican Way is the best Catholic Way, so yes as an Anglican I feel that I have the “Catholic Part”. Does that mean that Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox are not Catholic? No. As to whether one can be “Catholic” without the Pope and the Magisterium I say yes. Our Eastern Orthodox brethren are “Catholic” and they do not have a Pope or Magisterium. Anglicans are similar to the Eastern Orthodox in that regard.

Sign me “Catholic, but not Roman.”

okay, well i am learning something new or seeing things from a different perspective.

do the eastern orthodox have anything like the 39 articles?

To your last question, yes.

Well I belong to the Reformed Episcopal Church. Google is your friend. You can go to the REC website and another good website is St. Lukes REC, read some of the online sermons there, they are the real Anglican deal.

okay GKC - what is it about the 39 articles that the Pope does not approve of.

GKC - why don’t you join the TAC then, who may eventually be brought into the RCC? yes, i am very perplexed!!
The American jurisdiction which is a part of the TAC is known as the Anglican Church in America.

I am not interested in joing the RCC. I do not accept all their doctrine which is established as de fide.

GKC

that is a lot that the Pope has problems with.

have a nice trip.

be safe!!

You know me, apparently.

And I await the outcome of what is really going on with the TAC. I am dubious.

The REC (which I have no objection to) is AUTHENTIC (I think that’s how it’s written) Anglicanism in the same sense that the SSPX is the AUTHENTIC RCC.

Really off this time. I have scienc fiction authors to annoy, in another state.

That is not a good thing is it??

I can’t imagine Rome seriously reconciling with them and allowing them entrance with the liturgy and such that they use now. Besides Rome moving slowly on just about everything. I don’t know. They would have to reordain all of their bishops and priests.
