Notice in the few hours since you have posted your message how many people have taken the time to respond.

The thought only lasted 30 seconds and was simply a thought…not something you planned…something that popped into your head for a half minute because of whatever reason that you did not wake up in a good mood.

More people read this than posted. Lots of people probably read it and said a prayer for you.

Can you see that people knew at once that it was not a mortal sin?

You probably have been thinking about this all day. It has caused you pain.

This OCD/scruples is taking away joy from your life. You probably agonized over writing the length of time the thought was in your head.

few moments, maybe half a minute at most I would think…

All of that, plus what you have shared in past post, shows that this is how your mind is not properly processing. That’s why so many people here respond with asking you to seek help.

You want to be able to know when you sin and when passing thoughts come through that are just part of life. They are not demonic thoughts. They are not set in place by the Devil. This is OCD.

Please do not make yourself agonize over things that you can work out with a doctor, counselor, and priest. You deserve to receive help for this just the same we take care of other issues. When I can’t see well, I go to the doctor for new glasses. My son has therapy for speech. My husband takes Rx for cholesterol. I say this because your OCD is no different in that you should have the right professional to help you.

:yyeess: You can get this under control!!!

If you have not read all of mymamamary’s threads, please do so. He is a teenager with a kind heart and wishes to be a priest. The problem is that he sees mortal sin everywhere. If he’s having a very difficult time he will have a number of threads going as once. That is why you will see posts that appear to be uncharitable, but they are not. We all love him and want him to get help.
Indeed. We have been giving advice to mymamamary for some time now, but he doesn’t seem able to follow it.

Dshix, we are not being unkind. Many posters have been supremely patient, in fact, but are resorting to blunt speaking to try and get through to the poor boy. Do a search for his posts, and you will see how troubled he is, and how many times he has been responded to with kindness and advice.

Sometimes tough love is the answer.

Thank You everyone.

Yes this was causing me mental anguish all day. I have a Spiritual Director who seems to counsel me in Confession,as it is only the best time for Him and Me. As for a therapist, I do not have one. I hope to really get a regular full time therapist and counsellor and spiritual director before or during Seminary. I have good intentions, I hope everyone knows that, Its just, Scrupulosity is a pain the butt and is not fun to have. It really does drain you, even physically with all the anxiety and stress I go through in a day.

But thank you all!!

What if I told you I will get glasses in a few years, just not right now, even though I can’t see well?

What if I said my son can have speech, later?

What if I said I’ll get my husband’s Rx for his cholesterol in a few years?

You deserve a professional to help you now. Not “before or during seminary”.

You deserve to have the stress of every day life…homework, time management, chores, discernment.

You deserve to wake up and let passing thoughts pass…totally pass.

You deserve to be drained because you studied too late in the night, exercised hard, scheduled too many things on your plate.

You do not need to carry this burden of OCD.

Do your parents realize how much this causes you pain or do you keep a lot of it from them?

Hi,
I think you may just have been tired and did not get as much sleep as you needed. Did you wake up feeling tired? Dont wait until you are in the seminary to get help for your scroupulosity. Get help now. The sooner you do the better.
Thank you,
