I was recently thinking about if a person could/should be trusted if they do not like or show any affection to animals. I have usually always had animals around me, and have experience a lot of species and interacted with them, and find myself loving them as associates more than anything.

Some have shown true expressions of emotions that only those aware would notice. I have noticed some people that show no affection or love towards animals and I have always wondered if as some people have stated…

“Don’t trust a person that doesn’t like animals or the animals don’t like them.”

Praise be to GOD the heavenly father and his son lord JESUS CHRIST forever>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

That’s a stretch.

I’m not overly fond of animals. They are ok in their place…but that place is at a distance from me most times!

I don’t consider myself a horrible person…nor does my husband, children, grandchildren, friends…

I don’t know about a person that doesn’t like animals, but I would be leery of a person animals don’t like. Animals can sense things.

Both my cats have been excellent judges of human character, so maybe there’s more to it the other way around.

The cat I have now actually growls at certain people when they come to the door. When he does, I’m quite leery. This is the exception. Most times, the cat is very friendly and will rub up against visitors. I do think there’s something to it.

I believe animals can also see the spiritual realm while we cannot. There is a story in the Old Testament where a donkey can see the angel but the fella who is riding the donkey cannot. The fella keeps beating the poor donkey because the donkey keeps balking and finally the angel appears and rebukes the “animal abuser”. (It’s one of my favorite stories) But at any rate if animals do see into the spiritual realm then they can see “creepies” hanging around certain people. My husband has a friend who my animals hate and it turns out this guy was once married to a practicing witch! So I betcha the animals can sense the spiritual chaos around him.

Animal people get annoyed with me because I’m not a “critter person”. I only like horses and animals in the wild. I don’t want to be jumped on by your slobbery dog. I don’t want to be scratched by your stinky cat. I don’t want to be bitten by your mean bird. I don’t want to be strangled by your creepy snake. I know they’re your babies, but sorry, I’m just not as in love with them as you are. I appreciate and admire nature from afar and in its natural state. I don’t want it in my lap. I think I’m pretty trustworthy though.

If my animals do not like a person then I avoid that person. And if anyone does not like animals I never invite them into my home.

Animals are in touch with what we cannot see or comprehend. One friend starting upsetting my little dog, to the point I had to shut Daisy away while he was visiting. Strange as they were friends for years… Two weeks later my friend committed suicide. Think my dog could feel the angel of death hovering about him. May he rest in peace.

That reminds me about a news article I read about the cat in a nursing home going and spending time in the rooms of patients who were about to die to the point where they could use the cat to predict who was going to pass away. It was very interesting. Animals can sense death when it’s near.

Nursing Home Cat Can Predict Impending Death

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The scientist in Dr. David Dosa was skeptical when first told that Oscar, an aloof cat kept by a nursing home, regularly predicted patients’ deaths by snuggling alongside them in their final hours.
Dosa’s doubts eroded after he and his colleagues tallied about 50 correct calls made by Oscar over five years, a process he explains in a book released this week, “Making Rounds With Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of an Ordinary Cat.” (Hyperion, $23.99) The feline’s bizarre talent astounds Dosa, but he finds Oscar’s real worth in his fierce insistence on being present when others turn away from life’s most uncomfortable topic: death.

Cats are very smart, that cat wanted to comfort them in their final hours. My kitty is very smart too. 🙂

Thank you. Will buy that book. When my husband died his cat jumped on the bed, walked from head to toe, jumped off and stayed clear until the undertaker came. Kinda like a farewell. Thank God for my pets everyday!

You certainly are entitled to your opinion; however, you would do well not to insult the pet in the presence of the pet parents. Insulting the parents for having pets is verboten, too. It’s not nice and it implies tastelessness, uncleanliness, etc. on their part. I know that if someone told me that my cats are all “stinky”, I’d probably show that person the door. There would be no excuse for such rudeness.

The other thing that I think we should consider is that people who abuse animals likely will not stop there. I just finished reading a news story about a guy who sexually abused his neighbor’s dog, then went on to sexually assault a child. He went to prison, came out, procured some dogs, and started to abuse them also. He’s headed back to prison, thankfully. Serial killers usually have the triad of bedwetting, setting fires and abusing animals in their backgrounds. That’s pretty well known.

This was an episode of “House”. He noted that the cat always cuddled with dying people who had fevers. Kitty just wanted to get warm 🙂

The show “House” always put down anything that had a spiritual undertone, as do a lot of people in society today.

Other people can stand having animals in their homes, and that’s fine. I can’t. This is probably a bit off-topic, but when i was in college, my roommate decided to adopt a stray cat and keep it in our dorm room. I just hated that, particularly because I knew, sooner or later, it would take a dump somewhere in the room.

My roommate had an electric blanket, so before leaving for class, I would always turn it on just slightly so the cat would tend to be on my roommate’s bed rather than on mine. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the cat did its business on his bed. When he returned from class that day, my roommate immediately returned the cat to its former life as a stray.

I think it’s fine to care about animals. I love my outside dog and my outside cats. But as a sometime rancher, I do not get emotionally involved with the cattle. First of all, because they can and sometimes do severely injure or kill a person who has come to think of them as “pets”, but secondly because their purpose is different.

It is also rude to “share” your pets with people who don’t want to touch them, smell like them for the rest of the day, or be at risk of being injured by them. If the cat stinks, it stinks. I have a relative who doesn’t have to show people the door to her house. Most people find it on their own, as quickly as possible, because of the rankness of her cat. I refuse to babysit for her unless she brings her daughter to my house, because I don’t deserve to spend the evening in the bog of eternal cat butt smell. My stepmother has five cats and one of them has been known to attack people and bite and scratch them. The cat attacked my sister when she was asleep and sent her to the emergency room with a severe eye injury. My stepmother denies any wrong doing by the cat (or herself) and claims that the cat gets a “bad vibe” about certain people. (So it’s their own fault.) She does not inform guests to her home that her cat is violent and allows the cat to walk all over people and serves them food that the cat has been sniffing and licking on the kitchen counters. She gets annoyed when those who have found out the hard way demand that the cat be kept away from their small children or push the cat off of their laps because they don’t want their eyes scratched out.

My mother dislikes animals, she even yells to a dog when he comes to me.

but the reason for this i assume is because when she was a child a dog bit her sister (the sister was bothering the dog) and she has a dislike for them since.

I wasn’t giving an opinion on the show. I just mentioned it because of the topic of one episode. For the record, I like “House”. I just wish he were real 🙂

If you don’t want someone’s pet around you, just tell them nicely. I wouldn’t go into it with the attitude that you have now. You catch more flies with honey…

Also, you seem to have more of a problem with your “relative” and your stepmother than you do with the cats. Being charitable goes a long way…

Allegra, I’m in solidarity with you!!

I just do not visit people who have animals that don’t “stay away.” My dear sister has 3 dogs who just love it when DH and I are there…they are trying to be all over us! I will pet them, but then want them to go away!! Sis or brother-in-law will get them to move on,so it is fine.

Politeness works both directions…it is polite for the person who has a guest in their home to make sure their guest is comfortable!
