Is the dog Catholic?
Seriously, only assistance dogs should be allowed in mass.

Its happening at our old parish as well. We had gotten a new, fairly young priest over the winter that has a dog that follows the priest everywhere. The dog is present at daily masses and the school mass on Fridays, on the altar even. But on the weekend masses, the priest shuts the dog in the cry room, which is still unacceptable to me. There are no health reasons for the dog being present, the young priest has said mass at our new parish a few times without the dog being around. The dog is old, and nobody complained, so the presense of the dog at mass has continued.Actually, I have witnessed this twice down here at one particular parish. To the dog’s credit, she was very well behaved and quiet. Of course, that is not to say that I condone the practice and I believe that this was addressed to the pastor. Don’t get me wrong. I love my canine crew, but, inasmuch as they are God’s creatures, they don’t belong at Mass.
do you think this is bad. I read in a website in which a parishoner complained that the priest gave half of the Host to a dog.Our new priest lets his dog run loose during daily Mass; walks the aisle, stretches near the altar in the funniest positions (even at the Consecration), waits to be petted at Communion. Has anyone else have this happen in their parish? Is there any church law against a dog at the altar? Any suggestions?

It is not made up. It is a Traditional website in which a parishoner came and complained about this. As with so many others who come there to report the abuses that they see in the Mass. They report all kinds of abuses such as voodoo dance, and so forth.
That makes me ill.
I hope it was made up. WHO in their right mind would do such a thing?!

Stop spreading myths. This was at an Anglican church. Why must people insist on spreading these stories to condemn Catholic priests (you see it a lot with “bad vestment” photos) without verifying or disclosing that it was done at a Protestant church? I guess when you’re looking for abuses in the Church to complain about, some people will find them no matter what it takes. It is not made up. OK, can I just say I am so relieved. I thought it sounded WAY too wacky to be true.Stop spreading myths. This was at an Anglican church. Awesome! When I read this thread, I remembered something that happened not too long ago. My boyfriend and I went to a convent to help a group of Sisters with their convent (they have over 100 acres or more if I am correct) and when we got there I saw two dogs. The larger and looked older dog I dubbed “Dominic” because he seem to come straight to be and when I said to my boyfriend he might know where the Sisters are, sure enough following the dog he took us to the front entrance to the Sisters’ Chapel, where we would have Mass celebrated. I was amazed when the dog stopped directly in front of the entrance and did not enter any further, he actually bowed his head, I was amazed really. During Mass he stayed outside but near the dog, he would stand when we would stand and then when the Eucharist was held up in the corner of my eye I saw the dog place his head down. It was hard to imagine that I was seeing things. But, I said this is one of God’s creatures and he knows what this is, I think. Even after Mass he never entered the Chapel.
When my boyfriend and I left the convent I found Michael under the steps that lead to the chapel and he was directly under the chapel, he rose his head and came to us and then once we said our goodbyes he went back to sit under the chapel. My boyfriend said the dog must of been trained, but the Sisters from what I have learned did not have him for long and he seem much older if anything.
Even though I do not express any real opinion for this topic, it reminded me of Michael and just thought it was interesting and awe.
God Bless and in Christ,
Nikita, op
