As a child I almost started world war III with my friends. I was visiting my cousin, and during that time, his pet rabbit died, then his parakeet died. He and the other kids said the animals would go to heaven.
Being a smart-aleck know-it-all I said pompously, “Sister in school said animals don’t go to heaven because they don’t have souls.” Mind you this was many years ago. The kids were upset and mad at me. Anyone who speaks about pets dying, should understand that it is a very sensitive subject. We really don’t know if the animals will be there, but I think that if heaven has beautiful plants, trees, flowers, butterflies, water, birds, it may have dogs and other animals. Why not? And it is not about the animal; it’s about what makes you happy. If it takes seeing your pet again to make you happy, God can let you have the pet again in your afterlife. Undoubtedly, animals don’t usually understand religion, but in heaven there is no religion. That’s because you don’t need faith when you are there because you know there is really a heaven. It’s not a matter of belief, but a matter of fact.
