Animals are more important than people

No, I wouldn’t.
And why not are the being being butchered not human?

I too am against cruelity to animals but being a true humanitarian I would do all I can to stop all cruelity be it to animals or to humans. Whether we feel they disserve it or not. Saying you would not lift a fingure to stop some one from being hurt is not being humane, it is sick. And I sure hope you never find yourself in a similar situation.

We have no idea what was going on with this woman. She maybe mentally unstable (I would even say that her actions show this) how many people would say that they would physically hurt someone who is mentally unstable. Very few and those who would are those who themselves are mentally unstable.

I didn’t say that. I said I don’t compare kill-animal shelters as being the same as abortion clinics.

Sorry, I just don’t feel called to defend this person when she gets her cummupance. We get what we give in life, and while I may be called to help someone else in another circumstance, I just don’t have much sympathy or empathy for someone who hurts an animal. So you’re kinda barking up the wrong tree with me on this one.

Hmmm, I often wonder when someone tries to justify their lack of charity and forgiveness on his fellow human being what would this world be like if Jesus had said the same thing when he was being crucified for our sins? What if He had said “I just don’t have much sympathy or empathy for someone who _________. So you’re kinda barking up the wrong tree with me on this one.”

Just something to think about.

When an adultress was about to be stoned, Jesus didn’t rush to her side, stand between her and the crowd and demand they stop their attack. What he did was suggest that the person without sin throw the first stone - while remaining where he was. The crowd dissipated on its own. He didn’t make them. He didn’t lift a finger to help her. He just pointed out that they were sinners too.

However, again, I’m not called to defend someone who hurts animals. I guess that’s your job 😉 I’d be too busy taking care of the animal. She can take care of the crowd herself. I don’t have the stomach for that kind of stuff. We all have our limits, that’s mine. Just like you would leave the puppies in the river to die because you would be rushing to help her instead, someone’s got to tend the hurting animals. We all have our roles. Do yours and I’ll do mine and both will be covered 🙂

Thank you 🙂 And yes, try to stay away from the mentally insane, especially those who harm animals because it’s only a matter of time before they move on to humans.

To be completely honest,if I actually witnessed someone torturing one of my pets, or any animal, or a child, my first instinct would be to try and physically stop the person and then I can only imagine that the sheer anger I would have would make me do. Im not saying its Catholic, or rational, but I just dont know if I would be able to restrain myself.
Now what I would do if i saw someone else physically laying in to the animal or child abuser-well we can only speculate until we are in the actual situation. If im being honest then my rage just might get the best of me and im not sure I would do anything, especially if the victim was a pet of mine or a relative. That would make it personal.

I really cant say otherwise-if the child or animal was not previously known to me, I think Id let the person teach the abuser for a lesson, but i might at some point step in if it was getting too far i.e. if a vigilante murder was about to take place.

All that said, I do not wish for the death of the girl who threw the puppies in the river at the hands of a civilian. That would only shed a bad light on people who care for animals and detract from a lesson that can be learned. I think that the girl should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law so that her and others realise the depravity of their actions.

Just to provide an update of the puppy throwing video, Bosnian police say they have tracked down the girl/young woman and have questioned her. Perhaps in a an attempt to defuse worldwide anger against her, local villagers seem to have concocted a story about an elderly woman rescuing the puppies, but the colors of the “rescuned” puppies don’t match the color of the puppies which were thrown into the river.

If convicted of animal abuse, the girl/young woman could be fined. The range of the fine varies from $19 to $6400 (US equivalent)

There is no good reason for vigilante justice, regardless of what the initial crime was. Sure, I’d try and rescue the puppies, and would try to get a good description of this girl to report her to the authorities. When you take the law into your own hands, that is vengeance. And we all know to whom vengeance truly belongs. It would be truly evil, and really stupid, for any well-meaning animal-loving citizen to take the law into their own hands and perhaps commit a worse crime against this girl.

I would hope that some form of community service, in addition to a healthy fine and counseling, would be in order if she is convicted of this if jail or juvie hall isn’t part of the equation. Maybe something like having to pooper-scoop all of the city parks, every weekend, for about a year?

My younger sister is a paralegal working in the district attorney’s office. She has frequently said, “If people acted out on their feelings, the streets would be littered with bodies.” The rule of law is what separates us from barbarianism.

We have a person in our city who was pulled over for a traffic violation a few weeks ago. While the police officer was writing the ticket, he heard a cat meowing. There was no cat in the passenger compartment of the car. He ordered the driver to open the trunk. In the trunk was a frightened cat sitting in a pan covered with oil, onions, and peppers. The driver explained that the cat “treated him badly,” and was “demanding, needy, and wasteful.” He then said that the neutered male cat had been pregnant and had a miscarriage, and he was taking it to the SPCA, where he had gotten it about six months ago.

It looked like the cat was being marinated in anticipation of being eaten. And yes, there was a furor in the local media. It hit the national news as well. And all sorts of people were proposing all sorts of penalties, including marinating this guy in oil, onions, and peppers, etc, etc. People were really just ventilating their outrage. I doubt anyone would have done such a thing. Most people were saying that the guy is just plain nuts, and belonged in the hospital.

This person was interviewed on TV, and he just plain looked and acted bizarre. The reporter asked him if he was under psychiatric care, and the guy said, “That’s immaterial.” Then he said, “I’m not crazy.” (Personal note: If he’s not crazy, he certainly will do until a crazy person comes along!) He was given an appearance ticket for a court date, that he failed to respond to. There is a warrant out for his arrest, and I strongly suspect he will be taken from the police booking office right to the local psychiatric ward.

The cat was taken to the SPCA and given a good bath to get all the gunk off of him. And the cat was adopted by someone that very day, probably before his fur dried off.

Odile, in my opinion, the only crime here was the fact that the man was not immediately taken into custody and brought to a hospital for a thorough assessment followed by a plan of treatment. Instead, a sick person, in need of care, was let loose on the street potentially endangering society.
