Oye, here we go with this question again. :banghead: If you are in the presence of God Almighty, what will you care? You will be too consumed with His magnificence that you won’t notice one way or the other.
I don’t know about your dog, but Rocky will be there.šŸ‘ I asked him if he believed in Christ, and he said ā€œruffā€ and gave me a lick.

Michael

According to Blessed Emmerich, she has seen all white furry creatures and played with some of them when given brief visions of heaven. So I do believe God creates special animals in heaven…not necessarily our own pets.

I also have no problem accepting if true that our pets can be re-created in heaven while human souls are in hell…pets dont have the ability to choose or reject salvation, human do… so…like while Hitler burns in hell, I’d have no problem with having pets that once were on earth now frolick in heaven.

After the General Judgement, the Saints will be living in a New Earth with immortal animals.

**Catechism of the Catholic Church

THE HOPE OF THE NEW HEAVEN AND THE NEW EARTH

1042** At the end of time, the Kingdom of God will come in its fullness. After the universal judgment, the righteous will reign for ever with Christ, glorified in body and soul. The universe itself will be renewed:
The Church . . . will receive her perfection only in the glory of heaven, when will come the time of the renewal of all things. At that time, together with the human race, the universe itself, which is so closely related to man and which attains its destiny through him, will be perfectly re-established in Christ.[631]1046 For the cosmos, Revelation affirms the profound common destiny of the material world and man: For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God . . . in hope because the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay . . . . We know that the whole creation has been groaning in travail together until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.[639]1047 The visible universe, then, is itself destined to be transformed, ā€œso that the world itself, restored to its original state, facing no further obstacles, should be at the service of the just,ā€ sharing their glorification in the risen Jesus Christ.[640]

i certainly see the passages you quoted as SUPPORTING the idea of animals in heaven, but they’re hardly conclusive. does anyone know if the CCC has a more definitive answer?

I have seen it in scripture that they are in Heaven, but that certainly does not help us get into heaven .And just because they don’t have souls does not mean that God won’t have them there,He’s God and we are not, he can do what he wants.
If they are described in scripture as being in heaven, those may not necessarily refer to actual, literal lions or sheep, but may in fact be merely figurative or symbolic, just as we refer to Jesus as the Lamb, though He is God and not an animal.

Hey,Gerry:) They may not but God said it would be a new creation, so I don’t think we would be dissappointed to have animals. They are made by God and if he puts them there I’m sure we wouldn’t mind;) It will be Heaven and we will be in the presence of God. I think it upsets people ,the thought of animals being there. It doesn’t me, they were effected by our sin as was all creation,so if God wants them there you won’t hear me complain:blessyou:

If God puts animals in heaven, then His will be done.

However, wishing that animals would still exist in heaven is not the same as saying that animals will indeed exist in heaven. A mere wish isn’t the same as a proposition. I prefer **not **to assume that they will be.

Perhaps we should be more concerned with the fate of the human soul,** our** soul.

if I have to spend all eternity with my dog (r.i.p.) sticking his nose in my armpit I may have to reconsider. I assume that there will be no litter boxes, poooper scoopers, or asthma in heaven, and there will be some pet-free zones.

Oh,my.I hope a child doesn’t come on this thread.Everybody here(hopefully) is concerned about our souls. And I find no sin in thinking God might have animals in heaven,it shouldn’t be a scadalous statement. Humans take priority,I am not a member of peta, for heavens sake. All good comes from God and he said creation was good and animals were there,me thinking that God might have animals there is not dogma. It certainly, doesn’t harm my relationship with God.I don’t understand the scandal. Is trying to imagine what heaven is like a scandal?Perfect happiness and joy, Saints say it is wonderful which leaves our imagination open to alot of possibilites. One thing for sure is God will be there and we will be happy, and I doubt he will be angry at me for my admiration for everything he created.God Bless

Do you think there will be animals in heaven? What do you think? God Bless
One can only speculate at this point. My concept of heaven has transformed over the years. Once I thought heaven was a restored paradise here on earth with Jesus as King over one world government. We would have real physical bodies and live in houses with picket fences. Everyone would be working together in harmony in a restored ā€œGarden of Eden.ā€

Now, I believe heaven is becoming one with God, but yet distinct from God. Every attribute that God has enjoyed from all eternity…immanence and transcendence, omniscience, onmipotence, omnipresence, etc., will be shared with us. Not only will we be wed to God, but also to one another. Heaven, to me, is an eternal state of fulfullment. I believe that when we speak in terms of resurrected bodies we are not speaking of physically resuscitated and reconstituted bodies, The resurrection body is a spiritual body and is not bound by the limits of space, time and physical matter. I do believe that it is real, however, just as God is real, and can be made manifest in time and in space, just as Jesus’ resurrected body was, and the validated apparitions of Mary are.

These are my understandings at this present point in my journey with Our Lord in His Church and are not dogmatic conclusions.
I can say that heaven is real and remains the firm hope of all who place their trust in the Lord.

Eye has not seen, nor has ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of anyone what God has prepared for those who love Him.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon11.gif

The scriptures say that there will be animals in heaven. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that the will be animals in heaven after the General Judgment. The Church has always taught that creation will be restored at the Resurrection of the Dead.

How much more definitive could the Church possibly be?

Be careful, you might be taken as having more compassion for animals than humans I never realised it was such a sore spot with people:rolleyes: God Bless

This post sure sounds like another one a few months ago. I will answer it the same way. If God Almighty wants animals in heaven, I’m sure they will be there. You’ll have to admit that animals make better friends and make more sense than some people. I hope there are, and I pray that I’m there to see them.

Of course Lisa.

Thinking that animals may be in heaven is not a sin, much less a scandal, and no one here says it is.

I fully agree with you that one thing we can be** sure** of, is God’s eternal, abiding presence in our midst. Thanks be to God.

Peace

One more point. What about animals in heaven prior to the last Judgment? I do believe that is what the original post that started this thread was asking.

Being in Heaven is being in the presence of God. God does not exist in time - time exists in God. All of time, as we know it, is present in the now of God as the created reality that he can see in a single glance.

We conceive of time as having a past, present, and future, but for God, the past, the present, and the future are part of the created reality that is present before God as an object that he can see in a single glance. To make an analogy, think of a film of your life. If I watched the film of your life a theater, I would see your life frame by frame in sequential order. As I was watching the film of your life, I could image that what I was watching on the screen was the present of your life, what I have already seen of the film was the past of your life, and what I am about to see is the future of your life. But if I took the film of your life out of the projector and stretched it out before me, I could see every frame of the film of your life in a single glance, and no individual frame in the film would be anymore real than any other. Thus it is with God, all of the created reality is present before him in his eternal now.

All animals that existed in ā€œthe pastā€ are alive before God in a way that we cannot truly understand. We know as a matter of divine revelation that the creation will be set free from the bondage of decay. I don’t see anything wrong with believing that a beloved pet that has died will be with us in the restored Heaven and Earth. After all, a beloved pet that has died is alive in the now of God, and God is not restricted by death nor time. God raised Lazarus from the dead, and God can remove the bondage of decay from an animal that has died.

Do animals exist in Heaven right now? In a sense, that is a question that is meaningless, since the experience of time that we as mortal beings know in the fallen world is not an absolute. Time as we know it in the fallen world is not the same as time as those in Heaven know it.

interesting angle. i guess your reasoning (and i agree with you) brings us to another question - will animals be bodily resurrected, or will they be recreated, or will we just experience them as God does, within the space/time continuum, seen from ā€˜outside’ of it?

But then, even granting it is in a sense a meaningless question, those people who sincerely believe in a heaven where animals can and do exist would likewise still reason out that God in His omnipotence can **will **that animals exist in heaven now, the very same heaven where the saints and angels are now.

This is precisely why a definitive judgment on whether or not there are animals in heaven is for me problematic, to say the least.
