Big time.
Many European countries are rejecting ACTA. In fact the European Parliament brought the fact that customs officers could search your phone or computer for “illegal” mp3s or video files under ACTA at border crossings. I think the EP forced a change in ACTA to help prevent that, but ACTA is still pretty open. What’s surprising is that the US government signed the ACTA with these draconian measures. Why do Americans vote for such nasty legislation? Do you want your customs officers going through your iPhone or Blackberry to see what sort of illegal music you may have? Will you have to now travel with your CD collection in your luggage to prove you own these songs?

Honestly if things get that bad, I would hope that sane people everywhere would agree that media producers should no longer exist and media production should be outlawed. By outlawing the film and music industry you will also eliminate all forms of piracy. There won’t be any need to look at someone’s phone anymore.

American’s didn’t vote for it. The idiots in Congress & the Senate wanted to until we made a stink about it.

America did sign ACTA though. Did people raise issues over ACTA?

(It was probably smuggled in, I know).

Now the only reason why I raise this point is because of the high prominence of libertarian/small government views on this forum. Yet, people don’t really seem to mind ACTA too much, or perhaps there was significant opposition to it.

It’s a big issue among people who are politically involved. Not the biggest issue, but there was a revolt of sorts over SOPA/PIPA and then ACTA.

Thanks.
Hey I’m not judging 🙂 but as said there are so many people with anti-government views on this BBS yet few anti-ACTA views. I mean what could be worse then having a Customs Officer inspect your mobile phone for mp3s, check your pictures gallery for any copyrighted pics you may have pulled from the web and so on… 🙂

“Hmm, this picture of a kitten, did you take that picture yourself or do you have written permission from the copyright holder that you may use it?” :D:p

Thanks.

Well, ACTA isn’t as well known, but those who protest PIPA/SOPA are opposed to it as well.

In other news, I got my Haqua (of The World God Only Knows) Nendoroid today. Here she is with Elsie on the left: twitpic.com/8lqgwh

They look very cute! But taking them out the box cost you 50% of their resale value. Still I guess it’s worth it. 🙂

(I’m stealing your anime thread, since it’s the most active, and you’ll see it in the anime eventually :D).

This past week’s Naruto was boring. Nothing but footprints. Seriously. Bleach was good though, new arc, new story, new heroes and new enemies. The two new Shinigami introduced are rubbish but Ivan the Terrible at the end looks interested.

About time Bleach added in some Nazi characters :D.

Dude, you need to check out “Hitler goes Kaput!”. 🙂 It’s a hilarious Russian comedy.

Footprints? That’s your issue? The footprints? Not the fact that world’s biggest, emo psychopath is about to ruin the most awesome moment in Naruto’s life? twitches <—Hates Sasuke. Guts, soul, and all.

I don’t know if your response was just a response to my comment, but I agree with you. My comment was “big time” because copyright law and all its derivatives need to be scrapped and completely redone from the ground up. These draconian measures are absurd and represent a gross privatization of the law.

I dont know why but reading the comments on Bleach reminded me of a joke my friend Dylan and I spoke of. What if Aizen versed Tsukishime or whatever his name was (the guy who put himself into people pasts). That would have been the most brain melting ‘just as planned’ fight ever. 😃

Yes the endless footprints drove me temporarily insane :D.

I’m hoping that Itachi will beat some sense into him. Or that he’ll just beat him to a pulp. At least he’ll hold him off long enough for Naruto to drive of Tobi and retreat and regroup so that he can face Sasuke when he’s at maximum.

I know the feeling. I despise him. I’ve hated him ever since he went to Orochimaru. He’s weak. Not physically. Psychologically he is weak. Emotionally he is weak. I and despise weak characters.

I had you pegged for a pro-ACTA/SOPA Nippon Electronic Corporation (NEC) Ninja. 🙂

I thought Inu x Boku was yaoi, so I skipped it.
Based on the artwork in the promos, I wouldn’t fault you for thinking that (it was my first assumption), but no, it’s a romantic comedy. I really like it. It meshes comedy and drama together well, and the characters are quirky but well-written. While the backgrounds could use a little better design, the character designs are pretty nice.

Hmmm, ok. It’s also the reason why I skipped Twilight. It’s a show about gay vampires, looking at the posters. The women there are camouflage.
