Anyone reading/watching Bakuman here? I started reading it recently (currently at volume 12) and I gotta say, it’s very, shall we say, educational. 😃

I tend to drift away from anime like that. Not that I hate it but heavy helpings of the educational tend too be too much for me. Take Maoyu for instance or Spice and Wolf. They got cute character designs but their talk of economics is well… :hypno:

Although, I would think they might make great classroom supplements. 😛

I saw the first season and while very funny, inspiring and the two main leads were great characters, the romance felt takced on and wasn’t really compelling. In fact, the romance felt really empty and mean spirited, so much so I cringed every time a ‘heartwarming moment’ between the couple happened.

Also, I just finished Paranioa Agent. I was like this when I finished it:eek:. To call it weird is an understatement. I’m not even pretending I understand what happened. OK, I get the message which is very good but, what on earth really flipping happened? Is this how you end a series?

I meant ‘educational’ in the sense of “this is precisely what I need to study/ hey, this is what I’ve been studying!” 😉 Personally, if you want to have an inkling as to how manga (specifically Jump manga) works, I think you should really check it. Haven’t watched the anime, but the manga…yes.*

Another work I could name off right now: Billy Bat.
  • You know the old saw about how overanalyzing/overstudying something takes the fun out of it? Currently like that right now in so many areas.

So, I find out last night that characters from two of my all-time favorite shows, Hayate the Combat Butler and The World God Only Knows, are putting out crossover albums.

Hinagiku, Kanon, Haqua, and Ruka are getting together to do this. I am so happy to hear this.

Hina & Haqua’s single yesasia.com/us/advance-japan-version/1032105593-0-0-0-en/info.html

Kanon & Ruka yesasia.com/us/ringo-ribbon-japan-version/1032105561-0-0-0-en/info.html

And the combo of all four (with songs from both singles: yesasia.com/us/honjitsu-mankai-sakura-iro-japan-version/1032325658-0-0-0-en/info.html

I’ve already ordered the combo album. Might even get the Haqua and Hina album, too.

Thus far this season, I’ve managed to keep up with Kotoura-san, Roman, Oreshura, Da Capo III, Problem Children, and Minami-ke. I’d say Robotics;Notes, but I’ve fallen behind on it. I’ll catch up soon, though.

Kotoura-san’s easily the best show of the season for me so far. Still not sure why I’m keeping up with Da Capo III, but it’s pleasant enough, I suppose. Problem Children is an interesting show, at the very least. I’ve also been rather taken with Minami-ke. Pretty nice little slice-of-life comedy that can actually generate laughs from me.

Anyone seen Samurai Champloo or Ruroni Kenshin they’re actually really good and have very good messages…

If Vocaloid were to be made into an anime, there would be much pairing wars.
Speaking of pairing wars, I am saddened that yaoi, yuri and incest fans tend to be so open and rabid about it.

Also, has anyone else here seen Gundam AGE? For some odd reason, it has a stronger message about war then Gundam SEED.

Currently reading Nurarihyon no Mago (a.k.a. Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan). It feeds my hunger for myth and folklore. @w@

I get a feeling a few friends of mine have been reading it and who are also planning to get into the manga industry. 😛

Anyways, I’m seeing myself more likely getting into the Light Novel biz, given my obvious penchant for words. 😛 The recent trend adaptations is rather telling (from the epic Sword Art Online to rumors of a final FMP anime).

Is it better than the anime? I’ve seen the local dub and it’s not as impressive as their dub of Inuyasha.

I just finished watching Fate/Zero. It was outstanding. The most entertaining anime I’ve watched in a long time.

I really enjoyed Fate/Zero, too.

I finished Steins;Gate for the second time tonight. Still an epic anime. One of my top 3 all time.

I also ordered Ground Control to Psychoelectic Girl (aka “Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko”). Looks very interesting.

For some odd reason, I decided to watch Ah! My Goddess again. Asides from nostalgia, it’s a lot saner than the mainstream anime these days. 🙂

Also, what do you guys think of the Sailor Moon remake about to be released this year? o:

Ack, I need to finish this one! I’m always getting stuck in the middle of things, and I watch them so slowly… 😊

It was so exciting, too! Best spec fic anime I have seen in some time. (Speaking for up to ep 16 or so, anyway. :o)

I can’t get into Steins Gate!! I watched it til episode 10 or so and just blah. I didn’t like any of the characters…the whole anime is annoying to me. I’ve heard people like it so much but…i’ll try again sometime.

Give it 3 more episodes.

I know we’re not supposed to watch things with excessive violence, including anime, but I wonder if there has ever been an attempt to define where the line between tolerable and excessive amounts of violence lies. I must seem like a broken record at this point, but I can’t really help it.

P. S. I recently started watching the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime, and it is pretty interesting. I’m not sure what to think about the subtle irreligious theme of the first few episodes, though.

Define excessive? Catholics are all for encouraging flicks like Passion of the Christ yet 90% of anime violence I’ve seen never go beyond it in comparison.

Yeah, where does it say we can’t watch violence?? Passion of the Christ, hello.
