Sorry to be abrupt with the question but I always wondered what was the point of joining Crunchyroll? I don’t mean that in a snarky way. I mean like: do I get cooler shows or something? I wish I lived in America so I could watch subbed One Piece. Sigh.

Any recommendations for some good new shows on crunchyroll coming out? I’ve been, lets say, away from the media for a good 12-15 months so I have no idea what’s going on anime wise!
When u say join, do u mean becoming a premium member (subscriber) of CR? Well, as far as I understand it (correct me guys if I’m wrong) when u become a premium member, you support CR in their business of legally obtaining licenses for anime shows to stream. More subscribers equals more opportunity for growth, and thus more shows to watch. CR prolly has either the biggest, or one of the biggest selection of legally streamable shows out there. Plus, there are no commercials (which I love - commercials drive me nuts :D), u can watch in high quality 720p and even on other devices. And of course, u can watch many shows as they come out in Japan either the same day or the next day that they aired in Japan. Also, some shows are only available to subscribers and not free users. I’ve ran into some series that are like that. So all-in-all, I think being a subscriber is well-worth the money, also considering how cheap it is: $7 a month, or if u wait till the Black Friday deal, it’s $50 for an All-Access Membership - which is even better.

But yes, if you live in the EU or the UK, u won’t have as many titles as we do here in the States. I’m not exactly sure why, but I think it’s because there’s not enough subscribers in the EU/UK to justify obtaining the same amount of licenses for shows that we have in the States. But from what I’ve read from another UK subscriber was there’s still an excellent amount of shows available (last I heard in January, it was around 200+ titles).

As far as recommendations go from the last 12-15 months, what kind of shows do u like? Or what genres do u prefer?

Aku no Hana (Flowers of Evil) has beautiful backgrounds, but the animation is strange, yes, is rotoscoping, but still could be more detailed.
Yeah, based on the 1st ep, I would have to agree. Some of the backgrounds are quite beautiful. In fact, I couldn’t help but notice how much better they look than some of the characters! 😛 It seems that when the characters are a bit far away, they don’t have any noses, or mouths, or eyes, lol. I found that to be pretty funny actually. 😃

I thought the pacing of the 1st ep was a little slow, but with the creepy way that it ended, I’m gonna be looking forward to the next ep for sure. 🙂

Also, it seems from what I can tell from other people that have read the manga, that the storyline is quite good, but I guess we’ll have to see if that transfers over to the anime though.

panting I finally had a chance to look more into the Spring shows, and now I have like 7 shows I’m planning on at least trying/or continuing:
**(The) Devil is a Part-Timer! (TV)
Flowers of Evil (TV)
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (TV)
Ginga Kikōtai Majestic Prince (TV)
(The) Severing Crime Edge (TV)
Oreimo 2
Chihayafuru 2
**
Too many shows for me though, lol. I’m gonna give the majority of them a 2-4 ep trial run and if I’m not liking what I’m seeing, I’m gonna have to drop 'em.

Also, anyone watch Awakara Under the Bridge? I just watched a couple eps a couple days ago… it was a strange show… the absurdity level, for me, is just off the charts that I can’t take this show seriously. One of the characters in the show was a big man dressed as a nun (w/a firearm) who was acting like a priest , and that pretty much made me throw in the towel on this show, among other things.

Oh, not sure if u are aware, but u can do what a lot of people do and just ask for a guest pass on the forums. 🙂 There’s a sticky thread in the anime forum of CR if interested:
48 Hour Guest Pass Thread
or…
I actually still have 2 guest passes to give away also if u or anyone wants one, lol.

Haha, glad you’re enjoying it! The 2nd season is great too! Btw, are u on Team Arata or Team Taichi? lol. I’m on Team Arata! 😃
As it stands now, I am watching:

Devil is a Part Time Worker
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU
The Severing Crime Edge
OreImo 2 (but only so long as Kuroneko gets good screentime)

And against my better judgment, I will watch some of Date a Live, although i doubt I will finish it. The main girl looks like a character from Valkyrie Profile, so that’s my main reason for watching it.

I wonder if Attack on Titan is any good? Also wondering about Henneko.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Date a Live! I’m planning on watching that too, lol! So I have like 9 shows this Spring! I’m hoping to narrow that down to 4 or 5 after a few weeks though.
And by the main character from Valkyrie Profile, do u mean Lenneth/Platina? I only played the 1st game for the Playstation (like ages ago), but I absolutely loved it, lol! 😃

ironchapman, I don’t know if u were trying to respond to me in your last post, but u ended up posting the same thing twice, lol! 😃

Anyway, WOW, I watched the first 2 eps of Attack on Titan that were released on CR today, and imo, they were great! Pretty intense stuff! Definitely well deserved hype. I just hope the rest of the series will be as interesting, or at least close to being as good as these 1st couple eps!
I will say though that I don’t really like the main protagonist, since he seems to display a bit of a bratty attitude which is kind of a turn-off for me. :o But I can live with it since the main female protagonist seems to be a pretty likeable character at least. 🙂

I also watched the 1st couple eps of The Devil is a Part-Timer, and I don’t know about this one. I guess I have mixed feelings about this, but I’ll give it another ep or 2.

I watched the 1st ep of Date a Live too and may drop this one if the fanservice starts to be a problem in the forthcoming eps; it wasn’t too bad in the 1st ep except at the beginning scenes which kinda caught me off guard, and had me worried throughout the remaining part of the ep since I started to think maybe the whole series might be like this, lol!

Lastly, I also watched The Severing Crime Edge… wow… I… don’t… know… what… I’ve… gotten… myself… into! 😃 I’ve never seen someone with a fetish for hair… and his fetish for it was a bit disturbing  I’ll try watching the next couple eps or so, but I think I may end up dropping this.

So I finally watched the first episode of Koutoura-san. This show is both hysterical and all kinds of perfect. So far, anyways.

It may or may not be a bad thing that I think it’s hilarious. And cute, all at once. 😃

The opening is pretty annoying, though.

Yeah, the 1st ep is really, really good! I’m not gonna say much more than that since I don’t wanna spoil it for u, but I will say that even I laughed once or twice per ep in that series, which is unusual for me! And usually if a show can get me to sincerely laugh, then the show almost for certain will be hysterical to most people! 😃 There’s also, I think, 6 ONA eps of the show where Kotoura-san interviews herself and others from the show. They seem kinda cute since they are in their chibi-forms! I only saw the 1st ONA ep since it seems all the others were removed from their official Japanese kotoura-san.com website.
I do kinda hope they make a 2nd season though since I feel the show is capable of more. 🙂

It’s good to know that it stays funny! Episode two certainly didn’t disappoint. 😃

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet: Every bit as cool as I’d hoped. Some people seemed to dislike the space battle in the first half of the first episode, but I thought it was okay, and the second half made up for any deficiency there. This is probably the show I have the highest hopes for this season.

The Severing Crime Edge: What, a horror title that knows how to create the proper atmosphere before things get bloody? I’ll stick with it for the time being.

Devil Survivor 2: The Animation: At first, I was not sure whether to bother with it because it’s an anime adaptation of a Megami Tensei spin-off, but comparisons to Evangelion convinced me to check it out. I’m still not sure what to say about it.

Majestic Prince: It’s actually not that bad, and the weird art style somehow works in the show’s favor for me.

The Flowers of Evil: As I suspected, the negative reaction I’d heard about the first episode was understandable but still overblown. It’s not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought it would be worth checking out more episodes before dismissing it.

Valvrave the Liberator: Wow… I’m not sure whether to spoil what happens at the end of the first episode, but I think seeing it will be what decides whether you’ll stick with it or not. I’ll stick with it for now.

Arata the Legend: Mostly just okay. It will really have to distinguish itself from other “trapped in another world” stories. It’s not bad, though, and I’m willing to give it another chance.

Mushibugyo: This one looks like buckets of fun, and I generally like the main character. I’ll stick with it for now.

Photo Kano: I doubt that I’m going to bother with this show any longer unless something changes drastically. Grrr…

Uta no Prince-sama: The art is gorgeous, and as someone who didn’t see the first season, it actually wasn’t too hard for me to follow along for the most part. However, it is extremely obvious that the show is based on a reverse harem visual novel.

Sparrow’s Hotel: Pretty dull, but it only lasted three minutes.

Yeah, Date a Live has some fanservice, but it doesn’t seem to be overkill.

And while I wasn’t referring to any specific Valkyrie from VP, yes, Lenneth is one of the ones I was thinking of.

Sorry about the double post thing. I was on a bad internet connection. (Wow, didn’t know cr*ppy was a banned word. Dude).

Wow, you watched a lot! None of them really stand out to me, though. Unless people agree that one of those shows is spectacular, I think I’ll sit this season out and watch some older stuff.

BTW, Crime Edge gets better in the 2nd episode. Less about hair. More about Killing Goods.

And the OP is pretty catchy.

Try My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (My Teen Romantic Comedy is Wrong as I Expected) or Devil is a Part Timer (Hataraku Maousama)

Yeah, I saw it, lol! And I laughed and laughed! 😃 That “fight” scene was one of the funniest, most ridiculous scenes I’ve seen in a while! I don’t want to spoil it for others, so I’ll just say, how am I suppose to take a fight scene seriously with the weapons that were currently used? I mean, they made it SOO overly dramatic too like they were using swords or something! Anyway, I will be looking forward to the next “fight” scene to say the least. 🙂 If they ever have a fork vs. spoon battle, and do it as dramatic as they did the fight scene in ep 2, I might have a heart attack! 😛 j/k

anyone watching Zetsu no tempest?episodes 9 and 10 almost drove me crazy!:banghead:
As for naruto shippudden manga 628 issue wasnt released ytday.I wonder whats going to bhappen now that Sasuke has turned g9ood and is siding with the Hokages now.:manvspc:

Anyone watching Shingeki no Kyojin right now?
Lol, at first, I wasn’t sure what anime that was until I clicked the link! Then I was like, “OH! That’s Attack on Titan!” 😃

But yeah, I’ve watched the first 2 eps already, and am eagerly awaiting the 3rd this Sunday. 🙂 It’s prolly my 3rd favorite show this Spring season, after Gargantia and Chihayafuru 2.

I think this is gonna be an action-packed series, or at least I hope so. I’m also hoping the main male protagonist starts to grow up a little bit though because his childish behavior, at times, is a bit annoying. The titans, too, are a bit of a mystery to me, and I’m kinda wondering where they even came from. The best theory I could come up w/was that they are prolly dead (or once alive) humans that were experimented on by mad scientists that want to cleanse the Earth of the humans that currently inhabit it, and create some kind of utopia w/these “new” humans that have been experimented on.

If anyone has read the manga, please don’t spoil it for me! I’d rather find out everything by watching the anime! Thx! 🙂

It’s now on my to-watch list. Speaking of which: a little fun involving Snuggle (FaFa). 😃

I love the knowledge of Naruto’s plot I get without actually watching the show. I just get bits and pieces like “Gaara’s dead” or “no wait he’s alive again” or “Orichimaru carawled out of his own mouth once”

I had to watch the clip for that last one.

I like the Naruto characters, I just don’t like watching their show or reading their manga. When people put the major fights up on youtube, completely uninterrupted, the runtimes are often longer than feature-length films. Some of them break three hours. I just don’t have time to commit to something like that.

Do tell me how Sasuke being good again turns out, though. I know many were arguing about whether he would be redeemed or killed at the end.

I’ve never heard of Zetsu no Tempest. Is it any good?
