Ugh… so who here watched the Oreimo Season 2 OVAs? For those that may not know, CR is airing them for the next 2 weeks for Premium Members, and for Free Users they will be available to stream next week until August 31.

I will say that, overall, I did enjoy the series - it had its share of nice and touching moments as well as really memorable characters. Also loved the OP themes for both seasons. But the ending…

Oreimo Season 2 OVA Big-Time Spoilers Ahead (Highlight to read at your own risk - if you’re wondering how I did this, just use the Sign tag with White Text :)):
[SIGN]Since I was on the SS Kuroneko, it was quite sad to see her turned down in ep 14… I just kept hoping that it was some kind of dream or something and that he’d come back to Yamineko :D. And the whole confession (and marriage proposal) scene with Kyousuke and Kirino was just… “AHHHHHHHH!” I was cringing the whole time, lol, as my worst fears came to fruition, lol. But it was kinda funny, too, considering all those bystanders that were watching the whole thing. 😃 But one thing that bothered me was, where in the world were the parents? They never showed up once (no Ayase either aside from a flashback scene). It was good to see Manami put up a fight, though, and actually use some common sense reasoning with them.
Anyway, it seems that all the ships were pretty much sunk by the end of this series, lol, as they kinda left it to our imagination there at the end. Also, from what I heard and read, there was an interview with the author in which he said that he had intended for Kyou and Kirino to be lovers, and for the kiss at the end of ep 16 to be on the mouth (instead of on the cheek), but I guess the Publishers were putting their foot down on this and would not do it, since it seems they did not want to support a Bro x Sis lover ending. 😃 A lot of people are outraged by this, but I’m actually cool with it!

For those of you that have seen it, what are your thoughts on it and how it ended?
What a horrible ending, thankfully I didn’t watch that series. When reading synopses and reviews I knew that was going to have such content.

From a quick search yesterday, the novels did indeed include what the anime didn’t featured.

The thing is, they did so many wrongs that it just wasn’t funny… not just the bro and sis relationship going… uhhh, too far (well, way too far actually O_O - they go even further in the LN from what I hear…), but destroying the growth these 2 main characters had in the series, since to me, their choices in the end just negated it and make u shake your head in disbelief. It really was 1 dumb and selfish decision after another by both main characters near the end of this series…
This really could’ve been a great series about siblings who matured as people, rebuilt their severed relationship, and used that growth as a means to push past their dysfunctional and unhealthy obsession with one another. But it seems the author really wanted to please the 0.1% of people who are into this sort of unhealthy thing.

(just more of me whining, lol):
[SIGN]It should have been KURONEKOOOOOOOOOOOO! 😃 Why Kyousuke why?!? [/SIGN]

Has anyone been watching The Eccentric Family? It’s about a family of tanuki coping with the death of the father. I thought that the premise is really interesting, and I especially found the strong implication that the protagonist is attracted to one of the people who ate his father and who plans to eventually eat him interesting. This could go in so many different directions.

Uchōten Kazoku? I’m actually planning to see it (considering that Kôji Kumeta - of Sayonara Zetsubō-sensei fame and one of the manga-ka I really like - did the character designs), but well, I just don’t have enough motivation to actually turn on the TV late at night. You know, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. 😉

Only marginally related to the topic (it’s not anime, but it is Japanese :D), but I’ve finally managed to get through a few Touhou STGs (Phantasmagoria of Flower View, Subterranean Animism, Ten Desires and Double Dealing Character) - well at least, the Easy levels of the trial versions. Took me lots of continues, particularly Subterranean Animism. That game just took the life outta me. 😊

My Summer 2013 anime season consists of me watching the following shows:

–The World God Only Knows -Goddess Arc-
–Gatchaman Crowds
–Blood Lad
–Rozen Maiden Zuruckspulen

That’s also roughly a ranking from favorite to least favorite, but having TWGOK on top should be a given for me. 😛 Really liking Gatchaman Crowds, too.

I just finished Ao no Exorcist…not a fan.

Before that I watched Kids on the Slope…solid TEN. loved it.

I’m watching Attack on Titan right now and it rocks.

Yes, quite sad that they ended the series like that. What a horrible concept for a series.

Wow, if u are a fan of the Chuunbyou anime, u gotta see this video of Dekomori! 😃 (unfortunately u need a Nico Nico or a Facebook account to view): Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai! Video ← Beware, tons of on-screen comments (which can be disabled)! Also, the video never ends, it’s an infinite loop, LOL!
I’m watching Attack on Titan right now and it rocks.
Yes, it’s running neck and neck with TWGOK Season 3 as my favorite show of the season. The latest ep (ep 21) was super sad; can’t wait to see how the double-team of a certain duo will fare against the female titan. 😃 I’m also looking forward to when the female titan’s identity will be revealed. Although, at this point, I think it’s pretty obvious. I’ve narrowed it down to 2 blondes that I know haven’t showed up in the last few eps, but I’m leaning towards 1 more than the other. 😃

What did u think of the latest ep (ep 9) of TWGOK? There were a lot of upset people about that ep. I was one of them, thought Keima could have easily have told a specific girl that he liked someone else, instead of completely tearing her heart out… I felt so bad for her. 😦

There’s another show on CR that I just watched yesterday called RWBY, it’s technically not anime, but it’s totally awesome even though the eps are only about 4-10 minutes long each! As a result, I was able to run thru all 7 eps pretty quickly all in one sitting. The 4 trailers for it are some of the best trailers I’ve ever seen - very much action packed - and a couple of them are actually longer than some of the eps, lol!
Here’s a couple of the trailers:

So I finished watching Ouran High school Host Club, last week…

I know all you veteran anime watchers will probably shake your heads at the declaration, but can I just say, that was one of the most bizarre things I have ever watched. Every time I would stop watching it I would get up and just shake my head, in fact I felt like I needed to floating question marks around my head and the speech bubbles with the ellipsis. Yet, I really enjoyed it. It was almost like it was making fun of anime in general with the perennial question of; is it a boy or girl, and just he complete ridiculousness of the techniques used. The first episode I thought was very clever and the use of the lightbulbs. I had to go back and watch it, to see when everyone figured out the “secret.”

I love that one! It’s brilliant! Hilarious affectionate parody of shojo tropes, and Haruhi is a wonderful protagonist.

My favorite episode was the one about Kyoya’s past, but they’re all brilliant. Second-funniest anime I’ve ever seen, and amazingly, it also does drama competently. 😃

The Fall anime I’m looking forward to the most is Golden Time, whose light novels are by the same author that gave us Toradora. So yeah, really psyched for this one.

Yeah Oreimo’s ending sucked. I mean, his sister? And he should have chosen Kuroneko. Meh.

This reminds me of another anime called Yotsunoha where the lead character at the end confesses his love to Nekomiya Nono, so: “I am not a lolicon. It just happens the girl I love is a loli.” (the girl of course is 17 or 18, she just has not grown since they were kids and looks 10.)

Of course the internet otaku-sphere was full of guys crying their eyes out over the “honesty and beauty” of his feelings. Meh. Please…

For those into Hatsune Miku and anime figure collecting, there is this:
DD Hatsune Miku from Volks. It’s a preorder with ETA, Fall 2014.

BTW the Vocaloid Project Diva PS3 game is now out in English. It received terrible reviews from Western reviewers.

I will say this, the songs in Oreimo, at least the ones I heard, were usually pretty good.

That the series had Claris and Saori Hayami singing songs for them might have influenced my opinion here.

Seeing videos of the game on youtube I thought it looked pretty hard but cool.

Never really paid attention to the songs though… 😦

But I do own some Kuroneko coffee mugs.
