Alright guys, we met the 1000 post limit on the last one, so here’s the third installment of CAF’s Anime Thread, this time with a snappy anime-influenced title!

Here’s thread 1 and thread 2. Also, here’s the other large anime thread, which helped thread 2 last so long, since it was posted while thread 2 was active. 😛 forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=660149
Oh noes! U forgot/didn’t put the “#” sign in the thread title! 😛

But seriously, nice Eva-themed title! Asuka approves ~ I think! XP)! (And LOL, u have a better memory than me! I completely forgot about that other anime thread we had going at the same time as the “official” 2nd one! :rotfl: ~ hopefully, that doesn’t happen again!)

A few months back, I thought up what I figured was a brilliant title for the next anime thread, but I forgot what it was. Thus, I went with the Eva one.

By the way, I don’t think any of you will watch it, but stay away from the anime airing this season called Recently My Sister is Unusual. Even setting aside the faux-incest theme it’s playing upon, the fanservice and various ecchi scenes are intense, from what I’ve seen and read (I haven’t watched it, but I’ve seen reviews and images). It’s basically softcore poon that jumps from one fetish to the next using as much detail as they can on a TV station.

Yuck yuck yuck. The rule about titles with “brother” or “sister” in them really does hold true.

Nice thread title, by the way! 😃

Just subscribing, before all you guys get too quiet and I can’t find the thread when I want to.

I didn’t/don’t get the Eva reference in the title, but then it has been so long since I saw it, and I saw it when it aired on Cartoon Network, not sure if I saw all the episodes and was really really confused by the ending. (I think that was the first season I actually watched anime shows. (Between Naruto, Samurai Champloo, A few (re-run ?) episodes of Cowboy Bebop, and Trinity Blood, that was my introduction in the world of anime, besides the kids anime that had been playing on Saturday morning cartoons).

Over the past few years, Eva’s had a reboot in a series of movies. The third and latest entry is called Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo, so I chose a forum related reference and made it “You Can (Not) Repost”.

Also, we have a bad habit of going quiet for extended periods every now and then. 😛

Oh man! just went back to check the adult swim schedule and they are still playing some of the anime I was watching in college. Including Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Ghost in the Shell, and Inuyasha. Fullmetal Alchemist is on there, but it is Brotherhood. I feel like I saw one episode of FLCL, but can’t be sure. Oh yes, and igpx, the racing mech one. LOL. :rotfl:

The only ones that weren’t on 6 or more years ago are Sword Art Online, Soul Eater, and Space Dandy (which doesn’t look like it is worth any time at all).

I suppose to, be fair, about half of those shows are subsequent seasons and not repeats of the same old things. (Naruto, Bleach, Brotherhood, and One Piece, I know are long running series. Inuyasha too, though I think that one ended several years ago).

Heh, I noticed that, too! But I was thinking (and this is probably a long shot since I don’t think there would be many, if any participants, lol), but would any of u guys be interested in trying to do something where everyone watches the same simulcast show for the season, and after each weekly ep, having a little discussion (basically just posting your thoughts on the ep) about it here in this thread? Of course, we’re already well into the winter season already, but it still could be done with what we have left of the season.

Anyway, it’s just a thought, but could be fun with just us CAF users. ^.^

That sounds like an interesting idea. But which show or shows to use…

P. S. From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori) was very interesting.

On the subject of seasonal anime, both of the Nobunaga anime have peaked my interest, with the caveat that Nobunagun seems to be doing the romantic friendship thing between two of the girls. Still, I doubt that that’s going anywhere. The first two episodes of Noragami weren’t too bad, either, though the premise isn’t terribly original. Witch Craft Works looks like it could be interesting, but I watch it free on Crunchyroll, so I’m an episode behind the paid subscribers. I’ll probably sample more shows throughout the week.

I would think that maybe just 1 show might be best, just to test it out and see how things go (unless there are several here that chime in and want to try to do more than 1). Also, since I know not everyone has a premium subscription to CR/Funi or where ever, I would think discussions after each weekly ep, might be best limited to just what’s available for free users. Anything beyond that and I think a spoiler sign (with a pretext describing what kind of spoiler it is) should probably be used.
[SIGN]😛 I see u reading me! 😛 And I noticed the “#” sign was added into the thread title! 😃 [/SIGN]

Unfortunately, for myself, I can’t, or rather, it would be wiser for me not to participate in this (as much as I would really love, too!). :o

Heh, a Catholic buddy of mine on CR had spoke highly of Nobunagun as well (at least the 1st ep, anyway)! So this might be something that may be worth investing some time into. ^.^

Given the track record of a lot of recent anime, it’s easy to think that, but I’m not entirely convinced . I haven’t seen shoujo ai or yuri used to describe the show anywhere yet. Either way, this doesn’t seem like the kind of show that would do a lot of romance of any kind.

I agree with you. That’s why I said I doubt it will go anywhere like that. It just might come as a surprise. It was a very minor caveat.

I’ll need to see it. If nothing else, I can compare and contrast it to the original. And it’ll have epic mecha vs. alien battles, so that’s worth something.
The visual department is very good. The battles were improved, and some of them expanded.

That’s why I say books will probably always be the most creative medium, because they take less total effort and total money to produce, and there are tons of them, so people can make as many weird, new books as they want. Certain kinds of comics could overtake them in terms of creativity if books get a reputation as being too “respectable” or something, (comics also only take a single creator, so it wouldn’t be that hard), but mediums like that will always be more innovative than mediums like movies, which take hundreds of people and can’t afford to fail nearly as often these days.
Reputation tend to play a part in people’s perception of a medium, and the risks they are willing to take in supporting a project.

Good idea!

And we even could have an anime blog soon! 😃

Recently, various series are catering to various fetishes, so is possible that series is following the formula too.

Speaking about weird series, I watched the first episode of Mikakunin de Shinkoukei, I didn’t saw anything suspicious in the written descriptions, (and I couldn’t found more info in wiki sites). It appeared as a normal slice of life show at first, but suddenly one can see that the older sister has an abnormal fixation to her sister and little girls.

Well, one show less to watch this season. But, thankfully, there are various interesting show to watch.

Is that the one that is about a mix of magic and futuristic themes, and where they didn’t had heterosexual relationships?

I was reading about that series last year, and decided to not watch it.

It was a while back, but I thought I read something like that as well, at least something about lesbian relationships, or something. So I decided to pass on it as well.

I’ll watch something with you guys as long as we have the discussions after the episodes become free on CR (which probably means waiting a week for several people).

I did watch the first episode of Nobunagun. It was pretty awesome, definitely my kind of action show. Not particularly deep, but there’s a lot to like about it so far, from the historical “reincarnation” aspect to the way the girls’ shadows were colored in with flowers or camouflage to match their personalities. I consider it promising.
