That’s an excuse. If you think that parts of what I’m saying are personal, ignore them, and respond to the substantive question:

Do you or do you not agree with Ms. Coulter that we should carpet-bomb Islamic countries and convert them to Christianity through military force?

If you do not agree with her, do you agree that it was a wicked thing to say?

You are claiming “ad hominem” to avoid answering these questions.

Edwin
it is presumptous to say with certainty the reason someone is attempting “to avoid answering” or anything else… and so I’'m adding another reason to the list of Why i Don’t Respond: Presumption

tends to indicate hostility…

hmm…

not sure i know why… but uh… hostility doesn’t do much for me…

Maybe not of substance to Episcopalians but it is to me, a practicing Catholic.

I happen to love the satirical writing, the wit, humor and bluntness of Ann. She is a Christian by example if not perhaps to the ideal of many. And she gives support in evidence of her allegations. Perhaps a good example is a recent piece she wrote: mail.live.com/mail/InboxLight.aspx?n=810921505&wa=wsignin1.0

Understand she is a political pragmatist and not a liberal idealist who offers little but a false hope and prayer to be gained by socialism as a lead in to stated Communist beliefs…

I personally cannot understand how anyone can claim to be a Christian yet not think of abortion as one, if not the greatest, of the evil tenants to be found especially when Jesus Himself made a distinction between a child and an adult and gave precedence to the child seen often in depictions of Him.

i can’t help but think that those who are vehemently against A Coulter - and yet call themselves Christian… do so because they really aren’t that against abortion…

just a thought… can’t help but thikning it… I think some posters may just claim to be pro0life because thye don’t want to be attacked here @ CAF… or thye are pro-life in a weak kind of way… as in they think abortion is wrong but not as wrong as killing an adult… an adult like, say, Ted Bundy… or Jeffrey Dahmer…

I would agree that if you are directing your statement to all Islamic countries then you are right in taking issue with Ann. But the way I understood her reply to a question asked of her was if Iran nuked Israel what should our response be and she replied that we should retaliate in defense of an ally.
The conversion remark was meant as a joke and most of us realized just that. She does make some off-handed quips at times and that too is what makes her so interesting and bothers to the core some who hold opposite views of her politic.

i will do concede this one thing:

i think that in the beginning of her books, she should put some kind of … can’t think of the word rigth now… but she should write something like: Not all commnets in this book are meant to be taken absolutely seriously. I use hyperbole, etc…

and another thing that baffles me is: How can she always say that Ted Kennedy killed Mary Jo Kapechne… Was that ever resolved? Because if it was found that he did " kill" her, why is Ted Kennedy still a senator (etc, etc)… ? have to say, I haven’t kept up on tht much…

No Edwin, abortion is not the sum and substance of Christianity. Or even of Catholicism as a theological framework. But the U.S. Bishops have made it a “litmus test” for who is a “real” Catholic.

Come to think of it, there’s no surviving evidence that Al Capone ever helped any procure an abortion. I never realized what a faithful obedient Catholic he was! 😃
sarcasm?

murdering people is automatically NOT Catholic…

again, we always have to qualify the word Catholic… sad but true…

If Nancy Pelosi is Catholic…

then i guess I’m not…

He left her in a submerged car he was driving. He swam to safety, but didn’t report the accident for several hours. She drowned. I think he was drunk, but I don’t remember the details.

Most of them, the latest being Godless.

One has to wonder at the left.

For eight tedious years, they published, produced, and fabricated the vilest anti-Bush garbage imaginable, including quite serious plays and books on how to assasinate him, and were applauded by the same cheerleaders who make excuses for this current president’s statist plans.

And yet they cry foul and flap their arms when one well-educated and witty woman (self-described as a 980pound weakling) skewers their own cherished ‘ideals.’
the left claims they have no set standards of morality…

In this particular instance, they are not lying… 😃

and yet everyone has ideas on waht is “right” or “wrong”… Obviously they think its wrong to say, respect anything about Bush or Coulter… (etc)…

so… T
They admit they have no morals but they don’t admit to hypocricy…

… hmmm… but that’s OK, since we have Coulter to point such a thing out to us

(in case we were living in a cave in the last half-century and didn’t see it)… 😃

i already knew all that… i just don’t recall him ever being charged w/ a crime… should have at least been charged w/ leaving the scene of an accident without rendering aid… or whatever…

When, exactly, did a liberal figure with the same prominence as Ann Coulter even jokingly suggest killing anyone? .
uh… Roe v Wade… (??) Remember that???

voting for Most Pro-Abortion Senator of All… (??) Remember that???

partial-birth abortion…!!!

or uh… hmmm… maybe you don’t see abortion as murder…??

Whether the left “jokingly” speaks of killing or not jokingly…

50 million humans have been exterminated… mutilated first… no anasthesia…

Too bad Coulter-bashers aren’t more focused on THAT … and not on the fact that she doesn’t go around asking people if they need a hug

I have a very simple answer to some of these questions. If Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Mother Theresa, Padre Pio and the countless other saints were in a room with her–would they be praying for her soul?
YES!!! As they would pray for all of our souls too I must assume.

When, exactly, did a liberal figure with the same prominence as Ann Coulter even jokingly suggest killing anyone? Coulter’s liberal equivalents are Olbermann, Franken, and Maddow, and Olbermann went the farthest, calling for Bush’s impeachment. What you’re saying here is absolutely nonsense.
How about the Pres’s right hand man, pounding a steak knife into the table, shouting “Dead!”, as he named each opponent. Sure, it happened a long time ago, but same man, same ideology.

Her parents thought so too. But I guess when you have enough money a cover up is easy. 🤷

that’s it…

the Golden Rule:

he who has the gold makes the rules… and breaks them with impunity…

but Purgatory is not so flip about the rules… as it were…

The entire media was celebrating those kill-Bush books and plays.

CBS conspired to create a false story about Bush’s service—a story that even a CHILD could penetrate as a fabrication, yet apparently the left swallowed it and bellowed it to the rafters with glee.

Would you like me to name the celebrities, such as Franken and Goldberg, who called for Bush’s death? They did it almost every day, and seemed to think that shouting, "Bush sucks and he should be assassinated’ constituted comedy.

.
good point - i haven’t watched TV in yrs so didn’t even know about this Kill Bush trash…

but is it really all that surprising… Once you take the right to live away from one group or person, so easy to take it away from others… so we’re not surprised when liberals advocate death… again…

After some research I found out that he was charged with leaving the scene. He received 2 months, but the judge suspended his sentence because of age, character and reputation.

So he was charged and got off because of his “character.” I would wonder about the character and reputation of someone that leaves someone else to drown.

I totally agree, Mary. And as well I wonder about the character of those like Kennedy, Pelosi, Biden and others who would cast a vote in favor of abortion and still call themselves Catholic and go so far as to take communion in the public eye with everyone knowing they committed sin without rightful confession to not do it again. They continually vote in favor of abortion and to me that deserves excommunication.

I was under the impression that this forum was about Ann Coulter but since there were 17 pages I didn’t take the time to read all of them – also noticed that many comments were about Ted Kennedy.
My thoughts are about Ann Coulter – I seem to recall that years ago after 9/11 she wrote a book (can’t remember the name of it) about the World Trade Center. I started reading the book but after several times on her part she mentioned that some of the widows of the firemen who were killed were probably happy because it meant that they received a lot of money, I got disgusted and threw the book away.
I was married to a fireman and while he fought many fires none of them were like the World Trade Center. Also I know someone who lives in New York and every fireman in the firehouse that would take care of where she lived was killed in 9/11. While I watch the news on TV I got to the point after 9/11 I just couldn’t take it any more – I would NEVER, EVER read a book by Ann Coulter again!!!

yeah, for sure…

all criminals - or most - had some kind of good things about their backgrounds… before their first crime… big deal…

stupid…

but then, virtually the whole world is nuts…

or as Jesus said, there are few who find the narrow way to Heaven… 😦

$ talks…
