Has anyone heard of this person? She is supposed to have received messages from the LORD and has written them into several books called the Volumes. What is the Catholic Church’s stand on her and her written work?

Do you mean “Anne,” who is described as a lay apostle and mother of six from Ireland?

A website offering videos, dvds and audio cds claims that “Anne” is operating in complete obedience to the Catholic Church and all of the Volumes that have been released are approved by the Bishop of Ireland.

How true this is I can’t tell you. It seems to me that there are many bishops in Ireland, and the website doesn’t actually name which one as far as I can see.

I’d be wary before spending any money on these products.

I have read all of Anne’s Volumes, and find them to be extremely inspirational and completely in tune with Church teaching. In fact, they contain no new revelation, but some very interesting and comforting messages that every Catholic would benefit from hearing. As I understand it, Anne has been instructed by Mary to maintain her annonymity to protect her young children. That’s why the name of her bishop has not been released. However, your pastor can contact their organization, if you’re worried, and the name of the bishop will be given to him in confidence. Makes sense to me.
 
Regarding Anne being listed on the “Unapproved” list you posted, her case is actually described as “undecided”, which is not surprising in that the Church will not render a decision as long as she continues to receive messages. And after that, a long examination by the Vatican would have to be undertaken.

There are lots of opinions, of course. CatholicPlanet.com lists Anne’s writings as “reliable and trustworthy” See their assessment at catholicplanet.com/apparitions/true16.htm. The Catholic theologian Ronald Conte, who seems to focus upon all the apparitions and locutions happening today, analyzed her in depth and says she is authentic.

If you really want to check her out, try contacting Archbishop Hannan of New Orleans (Retired, I believe, but very active), or Cardinal-Elect Rosales of Manilla. Others include Sr. Briege McKenna, Fr. Bill McCarthy, Fr. Francis Murray, Ronda Chervin, etc., all very respected Catholic writers and lecturers who have supported Anne’s work.

And Catholic Planet recently said women must not wear trousers, only skirts and dresses, or they are sinners. Clearly untrue.

If you click on the button on the left, you will find Anne’s site comes up on the “unapproved” page, not “approved” page- although it says Anne’s partiular case hasn’t been decided yet.

Even Fatima and Lourdes are not articles of faith for Catholics. At the cost of Anne’s volumes, I’ll pass until something concrete is said at the very least.
 
My sister-in-law gave me all the volumes as a gift and although I’m sceptical I will read them all. However, it seems odd to me that every month year after year “Anne” is getting messages from Jesus, God the Father, and Our Blessed Mother Mary. Seems she is getting more mesages than all the saints through the ages. Also her messages started following an inspirational pilgrimage to Medjugorie (that raises a red flag to me). In the Direction for Our Times Newsletter she has a question and answer session where someone asks if non-Catholics can be lay apostles. She said yes. Now bear in mind that being a lay apostle requires certain monthly obligations, two of which are 1 hour Eucharistic Adoration and going to the Scarament of Reconciliation. She said if non-Catholics don’t have Confession in their denomination they don’t have to comply. For me this goes against Catholic teaching. Also there is no Eucharistic adoration by Protestants.
Just a sample of something that concerns me in her messages. She said Our Lady told her “Christ will not tolerate the blatant insubordination (by priests) to the Holy Father.” This does not sound like something our loving forgiving Lord Jesus would say.
