This Anne is just yet another in the long parade of seers who have made trips to medjugorje, and come back “locutionists”. Why anyone would fall for this is beyond me. For true spirituality read the lives of the saints.

This link below shows one man’s attempt to find out the truth…we should all seek the truth, especially about anyone claiming to speak for God.

“Anne, the lay Apostle Is Kathryn Ann Clarke” and have your eyes opened.

Puzzleannie, this is a link directly to the approval pages of Anne’s writings.

There are 19 pages in this pdf file. The photocopied approval pages are on pages: 5, 6, 7, and 13.

Pages 5 and 13 are the bishops, with page 13 being the imprimatur of the Philippine bishop.

All this approval does is to say that there is nothing in Anne’s writings that are contrary to the faith and morals of the Catholic church. It does not vouch for their authenticity, but does say that if I choose to pray about and follow the advice in her books, it will not endanger my soul, nor will it lead me out of the church. If at some future time, this imprimature is revoked, then her writings would (at least after that point) be invalid.

Approval for an apparition, or series of apparitions (or locutions) could only be granted AFTER THEY HAD CEASED. This way, the writings and fruits could be examined whole. (This was the case of all modern apparitions, such as in Fatima and Lourdes.

To be frank, why wouldn’t the Lord wish to convey his words to us today, just because we happen to be alive and able to hear about it firsthand? I think we live in VERY grave times, and comfort and direction are sorely needed to help us to persevere in this darkness.

That is the crux of the messages, strive for personal holiness, pray, and be about the Lord’s business of the conversion of souls in our everyday lives. The most simple Gospel message.

(Make sure to also read my post right above this one. 🙂 )

It would seem that Dr. Mark Miravalle, Professor of Theology and Mariology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville
did respond to Unity Publishing’s claims and accusations about Anne.

Unfortunetly, Unity Publishing does not provide a copy of this defense of Anne, they only provide their own “investigative reporting”, and then a separate response to Dr. Miravalle’s defense (Unity Publishings response is found here).

In addition, IMHO, Unity Publishings writings about Anne (and Dr. Miravalle) are really mean spirited and vicious.

Anne the Lay Apostle really IS Kathryn Anne Clark. She’s a fraud and a liar! I’m friends with Rick Salbato, and he is telling the truth.

We should be basing our Catholic Faith upon Jesus Christ, His Free Gift of Salvation, and what He did for us and NOT on unapproved private revelations. When you base your faith on people such as Anne the Lay Apostle, and when that person is exposed to be a false prophet, your faith is in great danger of being lost!

If you truly base your faith upon Jesus Christ and the teachings of His Apostles, your faith will be based upon solid rock instead of quicksand.

Just my two cents.

God Bless!

You don’t say what has been approved by a Bishop. A Bishop cannot approve private revelations. Only the Church can do that and these private revelations have not been approved.

As for the Imprimatur by a Filipino Bishop I doubt that. I live in Manila (capital of the Philippines) and my sister-in-law recently bought all 10 volumes and there is NO Imprimatur by anyone.
Hi THISTLE! you said that you live in Manila, May I know where where sister in law bought The 2 other volumes? see, when i bought the set, it contained ONly 8. And i want to read the other 2. Thank so much 🙂

I will ask her and let you know, even though I believe the messages are false. However, because they are not approved the content cannot be discussed in the forum or the thread will be closed.

if it was the most simple Gospel message she would not need 10 books to tell it, the evangelists only needed 4 books.

The Lord may very well wish to speak to us today, but I don’t think he would do it by means of an alleged seer or locutionist who has her own website and marketing organization. An imprimatur on the books is NOT approval of the locutions by a Bishop.

hi Thistle, thanks and no need to discuss the content.🙂

GoldenArrow, I would like to know what ecclesiastical authority your friend, Rick Salbato has? I don’t know who Kathryn Clarke is, but I do know that “Anne” has the approval of her bishop to spread these messages. So, unless your friend is the Holy Father, I’ll take the authority and permission of her bishop (who, by the way, has the authority to pronounce on these matters) over his.

You are not obligated to believe in these messages, just as you are not obligated to believe in Lourdes, Fatima, Guadelupe, The revelations of St. Faustina, etc. The Church grants permission to believe in these for the edification of the faithful.

You are also not obligated to pray the rosary, or to develop a veneration for a particular Saint. However, these things are available in the treasury of the Church, for those who would like to participate in them, and who might benefit by them in their spiritual life.

The Church, in the person of the Bishop of Kilmore, has granted his approval of the spread of these messages.

The Church, in the person of the Bishop of Kilmore, or in the person of the Holy Father retain the right to revoke that approval if they deem fit.

Sienna…could you tell me if the Lay Apostle Anne is a charismatic? Thanks.

“Anne” = Kathryn Anne Clarke…they are the same person. According to the Unity Publishing website run by Rick Salbato “Anne” as she is known today continues to run the company which distributes her book “The Broken Vow” promoting divorce.

Qutoes from Unity publishing article…Link: unitypublishing.com/Apparitions/anna’name.htm
With the help of this sterilized and divorced Chief Executive Officer, Clarke published the book “THE BREAKABLE VOW” and started up an organization called, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION, INC. (DVP). The fictional character “Annie” in this book is the life story of Kathy Clarke’s first marriage but probably exaggerated to make the point of violence.
Since Kathy Clarke’s new bishop has always known who “Anne” is, we have to assume that he knows she wrote the book, THE BREAKABLE VOW, but he may not know that she advocates surgical birth control (sterilization) and divorce. If he does not know she is the author of a divorce book, then his investigation into her claims was deficient because he is required by Canon Law to look into the background of the claimant.
The picture above is Kathy Clarke on tour but when she goes out as the seer, Anne, the Lay Apostle, she pulls her hair back, takes off her makeup and dresses in conservative clothes. Study both as I have and you will see that it is one and the same person. I have also had other people who went to Anne talks and they say that it is Kathy Clarke. Strange that Clarke goes around publicly as herself and also goes around publicly as Anne, and until now no one noticed that she is one and the same person.
If what Mr. Salbato says is true that she continues to run this organization (DVP, inc.), sells her book The Breakable vow, promotes surgical birth control, divorce and changes her appearance depending on whether or not she is on tour as “Anne”…then I think this is something that is deceitful and not the actions of a person striving for holiness or inspired by God.

This is why it is good to wait until the Vatican gives a sign of approval for an apparition or seer as it has with Fatima and Lourdes. You avoid alot of spiritual headaches that way.

God bless

It is the policy of Catholic Answers Forums to treat any such revelations as unapproved until proven otherwise. I have not seen any definitive source that the revelations of Anne the Locutionist or Anne the Lay Apostle are granted full ecclesiastical approval. Imprimaturs and nihil obstats for her words are not the same as approval for her alleged locutions, and CAF discourages discussion of private revelations whose authenticity cannot be verified based on Content Rule 6 and Banned Topic Rule 25.

If any of you have further questions regarded Anne the Locutionist, you may contact Catholic Answers directly.

Thank you to all who participated. This thread is now closed.
