Human behavior is fascinating. And yes, it is cruel…
I had heard that a friend of mine had died. Had no reason to doubt validity; we had strayed because sometimes life just does that. I moved away for unrelated reasons. Came back for a visit, Boom there he was!!! Grabbed him, hugged him. “Who said I was dead?” “Um, a relative of yours, actually.” Yikes… I am guessing a relative with some serious animosity or a really sick and cruel agenda…
It’s mean when someone who had some personal vendetta against someone you know but when the person who were married to tells you in person they are dying, have your entire family go along with the charade out of spite because of the quickie divorce, and to find out over 5 years later they are alive, you just don’t know what to feel about it.

I’m beyond blessed that my FI kept me calm throughout all this. Even before I found out, I told him I had a gut feeling that my ex faked his own death because I moved on.

That annulment was too easy for me to do. I knew he wasn’t baptized and never wanted a church wedding. I also knew which church I was baptized and all addresses needed to prove there wasn’t a convalidation ceremony after the City Hall one.
