Annulment Frustrations, help and sources needed

In short, I’m looking for sources or a guide/book to help answer annulment questions according to Cannon Law.

I’m in the 3rd year of the annulment process and re-applying under different grounds. Obviously, the first attempt was denied.

Any help would be great. I plan to remarry with or without the Church.

Hello,

In these or similar forums, it’s sometimes possible to give some general and basic direction to people in the nullity process. Given the particular circumstances surrounding your situation, though, I think you need the assistance of a real-life canon lawyer who can interact with you on a personal basis over the long-term. Be aware, though, that there may be no practical way forward in terms of another nullity process.

As for your marriage plans, I hope you can find a priest or some other pastoral minister who can assist you. All I can say is that if you are already married, you can’t “remarry.”

I am sorry that you are going through this. I just recently began the annulment process. My divorce was 30 years ago. I find it a very painful process as it brings up bad memories. There supposedly is an annulment support group on CAF. Maybe you can get answers there.

Do this ^^^. There is a book that 1ke often suggests but I can’t remember the name of it now. Hopefully she will respond with the name of it. I believe you can get canon law through the Vatican web site Vatican.org.
 
I heard Jacqui Rapp speaking about annulments the other day on Catholic Radio. She is a canon lawyer who has written a book, Annulment: 100 Questions and Answers for Catholics. It might be helpful for you.

I believe the book that is often recommended is “Annulments: the Wedding that was”
 
Self-study is fine and might help to a point but…in the OP’s situation, it will be woefully inadequate.

Right. He needs a real , live, canon lawyer to speak to.
Anybody know one? 😉
 
I’m experiencing the inadequacy of self help/education through this frustrating process. My diocese also seems to lack ability to be genuinely helpful.

I’m trying to do the right thing here, but in MHO the process is broken at many levels.

Your diocese should have some resources on who is a canon lawyer and can help you. You also should not being doing this alone, your parish should have advocates to help with the process. I know when I did the training to become an advocate I was given a copy of the canon law section dealing with marriage. Some of it takes a couple of careful readings to completely understand it’s meaning but I have a background working in the legal system so I caught on to the legalistic language rather quickly.

And yes that is the book 1ke often recommends.
