Hello, I am new to this site, so just want to say Hi to everyone! My question is regarding the annulment process. I am wondering what the Churches teachings on multiple annulments. My mother has already had one years ago, and unfortunatly she married again and is now stuck in another unhealthy marriage and is thinking about leaving. Can someone please give me some insight on what the Church says about this?

In many dioceses, a second annulment results in an automatic vetitum, so that a third marriage cannot take place without the bishop’s direct approval. Other than that, there isn’t much difference from a first annulment.

I am a convert. My first marriage was declared invalid because my first attempt at marriage, my “wife” had been married previously. In my second attempt at marriage, my “wife” divirced me because I converted froim atheism to the Catholic church. In both cases, the Church determined my attempts at marriage to be invalid.

Now that is different from a “serial marryer”. For that, you, or rather she, should discuss this with a good priest.

She can follow the same process as before, and let the Tribunal decide…
