Annulments was practically never granted before the second Vatican council… To go from 9 annulments in 1930 to 60,000 every year shows one or two problems, those with reason, open your eye!
I wonder how these stats line up with those of abortions?

This country (USA) is very cursed, I think.

Not well. One cannot be presumed to be the cause of the other, but that they may be interlinked in some circumstances should surprise no one. Add to that the statistics on divorce since no-fault rules were passed in various states; the increase of the use of the Pill since its introduction; the increase in the average age of those marrying for the first time; the increase in the number of people living together without marriage; the list goes on and on.

Some people are adamant that the Church is completely wrong, and they compare the statistics between the number of cases under the 1917 Code with those under the 1983 Code in attempting to show this; and with no consideration of anything else attempt to show that the Church is simply rolling over and granting a “Catholic dicvorce”, never bothering to look at the myriad problems in society that have contributed, and continue to contribute to the fact that there are a lot of people who no longer believe that marriage is a permanent union until death.
