We’re talking about child porn and those who partake of child porn. Surely, giving these scumbags hell is laudable right?

Yes, it’s not that child porn is a good thing. It’s not that it should not be stopped.

But it worries me whenever one group decides to take the law into its own hands, to target whatever websites it wishes, including the Vatican webiste, and to act as a law unto itself.

Is Anonymous now the worldwide Internet policeman?
Is Wikileaks the new decider of what information corporations and governments may keep private and what must be released?
Does Occupy Wall Street now determine national policy?

Seems we have a little too much anarchy under way.

Oh, I hear you. It’s just uplifting personally to see someone take these scum to task for their abomnable appetites.

I agree that vigilantism is a dangerous thing in and of itself. I can give them props when they deserve it though.

Did you read the article? The reasons they “attacked” the Vatican website are similar to the reasons they “attacked” the child pornographers.
 
My personal opinion (this may open a can of worms saying this) is that the Media is trying to make “Anonymous” out to be domestic terrorists. I know several people who are actual from the website where “anonymous” came from and the truth is that everyone from that site says that no group from that site would band together and do things like this. This is just my opinion you can take it or leave it, its just how I feel. I will not respond to negative comments.

Let’s review:

1.) Someone said Anonymous’ motives were arbitrary
2.) I said they were not arbitrary in these two cases, since their motives were similar both times
3.) ???
4.) You say I want World Youth Day to suffer.

I’ve got #1, #2 and #4 down, but I don’t know what #3 was… heh
 
I dunno, I think they can be crazy at times, but I also think they’re they’ve done some good here, and the first known act was to stop kitten abuse by using the internet to find a guy who posted youtubes showing him beating and burning a kitten. They’re an odd bunch, not always good, but they aren’t all bad either. I’m glad child porn is offline. I hope that they can keep it offline. It’s not like they’re angels, but they did some good stuff among the bad.

The thing about Anonymous is they aren’t just one ‘group’. The ones that knocked out the Vatican website may not be the same that hit the child pornography sites.

Anon does do good work from time to time including managing to track down IP of pedophiles and in quite a few cases anyone who harms animals. Can’t find the link but some guy posted up pics of him torturing kittens, within 48 hours Anon had tracked down his IP and notified the RSPCA of his whereabouts and the pictures as proof of his crimes.
