My son went camping with a friend’s family a year or so ago. This family does not go to Mass on any regular basis and did not plan to go during this camping trip.

Going by Michelle’s resposne to the last camping question, was it okay to let my son go? I actually didn’t know they weren’t planning on going to Mass until after he’d committed to the trip. I guess I’m asking now in case there is a next time.

Thanks!

Yes, it was fine to let your son go on the trip. It would be analogous to him taking a trip to any remote area without access to Sunday Mass. When such access is not available the Sunday obligation is dispensed. In this case your son’s access was impossible on two counts: one, the remoteness of the area; two, traveling as a dependent child with adults who were not attending Mass.
