Gabba, gabba, we accept you, we accept you, one of us!

Gabba gabba hey! Gabba gabba hey!

You don’t have to be a Catholic to be part of CAF. You just have to be reasonable and open-minded, things people on CARM have a very tough time being.

What is CARM?
It’s a Protestant, Fundamental website that has discussion forums. They say among other things, that Catholics are superstitious. And that came from a Senior Mod who likes to fuel the fire but then also has the power to delete posts.

Discussion is a strong word. It’s more like an echo chamber.

I’ve been reading the Bible for many years now and I have not come to many of the same conclusions that you have been presenting to me. Could you help me out and provide me with some evidence, that you were given the final say on what these verses mean, this way I can have absolute certainty that your interpretation is the correct one and mine is not.

I would love to know his response, because I’ve personally never been given one. The person either insists they are right and I am wrong or that I am just blindly following the Catholic Church. If he insists that you are blindly following the Catholic Church tell him if this is so help me not do this by providing me with the evidence that I should be following you.
I don’t know if I have the nerve to challenge him like that.

Many have challenged them on the sola scriptura belief. They have an “answer” to anything and everything, an answer that satisfies them. “Debating” with them is interesting up to a point, and painful after that point. Jesus wept over Jerusalem; denominationalism is a horrible tragedy. As if we do not need another manifestation of sin among those who profess faith in Jesus.

Challenges to their faith, however, must be carefully interwoven into a defense of the Catholic faith, or be prepared for the post to be deleted or moved. Their rules required Catholic defenses or anti-Catholic challenges on the “Catholic” forum - anti-protestant challenges do NOT belong there, and will be deleted or moved, if a CARM member flags it. So Catholics are fixed into defense, no offense on that forum.
Exactly!!!

I believe this is a common problem we have now a days, especially in the United States. To me saying to someone could you help me out here and show me a little evidence is a simple straight forward logical request. I simply can’t understand why you would believe you are “challenging him”. You are simple saying I want to believe please help me with my unbelief.

I see it all of the time, on this forum and all throughout the world. Someone tells you something you question them for some evidence and they accuse you of disrespecting them. Seriously, have we become that spineless in this world that we can’t handle being “challenged”?

To me this is even more evidence for the Catholic faith. To me the ones refusing to answer the deep questions are the ones that prove that their theology isn’t grounded since the beginning. I welcome any challenge about the Catholic faith from anyone. No challenge is to great because I have confidence that in 2000 years the question has already been asked and answered. Sure they might not always agree with the answer but at least I loved the person enough to take them time to give them a response and not accuse them of disrespecting me. Something you won’t ever see on CARM.

God Bless

Yes, and it doesn’t matter to them how ridiculous they sound, they just have to have some sort of answer.

I’ll probably be banned from CARM now because I told them in the thread “Intercession of the Saints” that they come across as irrational and foolish, lol.

Wonderful. My first account was banned because I posted a thread about how Sola Scriptura and “It’s not in the Bible!” are not verifiable as parts of faith.

And the weirdest thing of all, is I really did go there to learn about Protestantism and ND churches, but instead of talking with me I was accused of being a “Catholic Apologist” etc.

I wrote this below:

<<<<<<<In all sincerity, its impossible to have a meaningful discussion here with most posters because they just blindly interpret Scripture themselves and argue any points resembling something rational, regardless of how uneducated and foolish they come across. Sorry, but the truth hurts. !>>>>>>>

Ouch! Thanks. Now I understand. I actually know friendly Protestants. I have some friends among them. But it is better to keep away from the militant kind… I guess.

I’m in agreement with 1ke.

I (think?) We’ve talked about this before, and I thought you said you believed in the Catholic faith, and in the real presence. So I’m really confused as to why you would leave that. I think the internet is a pretty bad place to get answers. So if you do have a good priest, please talk to him.

As to CARM; I’ve been there. I’ve not posted because I’ve read their stuff, and listened to Matt Slick on youtube. He’s not an even handed guy so far as I can tell; there is a strong anti Catholic drive to him and his site.

I wouldn’t go there looking for good answers to protestant questions. Talk to your priest, or go to Catholic Answers and their tracts for a Catholic take.

The priest I can talk to is still in the Holy Land but I think he’s coming back this weekend. He used to be a priest at my church but left to pastor another church.

Then, I have a couple other friends who left for the Holy Land sometime after he did, on a different tour. One of them is going to bring me back a rosary that she’s going to touch on holy sites where Jesus walked and had been.

A stickied post on the RC discussion subforum calls the Church apostate. It’s really telling how little regard they have for Catholicism.

I haven’t looked to see if they are this odd with other non-Catholics or if they just target Catholics. I also checked out a few YouTube videos of Matt Slick. He is so arrogant.
