Well, what constitutes lewd conduct?

I know what I mentioned were sins, but if they don’t constitute lewd conduct what does?
You are still operating unde the assumption that “lewd conduct” is grounds for nullity. It is not. Yes, those things could be considered lewd, and yes they are sins. No, they are not grounds for nullity. There is no such thing as an impediment of “lewd conduct”.
Had I been married and my spouse cheated on me, there would have been a lot of trouble. I am pretty sure our relationship would have been platonic from then on. Very sure as a matter of fact. Yes, I know, forgive!
The Chuch encourages forgiveness and reconciliation. If you could not or would not, then you could choose to live apart. But you are still married. Adultery is a terrible thing, but it cannot make a valid marriage invalid.
I would never trust them again either. That makes for a pretty bad relationship. If I had been the cheater I would expect the same from them. Things would never be the same.
There are many people who move past infidelity. And there are those who do not. But again we are not talking about hurt feelings, we are talking about grounds for nullity. And bad behavior in the marriage does not make a valid marriage invalid. It cannot. A marriage is either valid or not at the beginning.

Yes, the technical need for proving that the marriage was never valid in the first place is understood. But, I just know myself well. Infidelity would never have been an option for me. Had I married we might have stayed together if that happened, but it would truly be a terrible burden. I probably would have insisted on living apart. So, I can see good reason that God called me to be single.

Each parish and each diocese and archdiocese handles it a little bit differently. Uncle just needs to approach his parish office and ask about the annulment process. In some cases he can go to another diocese if his isn’t working well for him.

But first things first. He should just ask at his local church and take it from there. Or, as someone else suggested, hire a practicing canon lawyer and get advice that way.

It’s termed a healing ministry, and regardless of what the local priest wants or doesn’t want, the tribunal takes its mission very seriously. It wants to grant annulments when they are warranted by the facts.
