As I was preparing to go to confession today, I remembered a mortal sin that I committed twice in a time frame of about 20 mins (it wasn’t murder or premarital sex, nothing quite THAT extreme). I was prepared to tell the confessor that I committed it twice.

However, now I don’t remember if I said “I did this twice”, or if I just said “I did this”. I am now wondering if I need to confess this sin again and make it clear that I did it twice, or if it is ok that I didn’t clarify.

Let me know. Thanks all!!

as long as you just honestly forgot, but had gone with the intention of confessing it, it is still a valid absolution

We should tell the priest how many times we have committed a specific sin, however, the fact that it was left out does not invalidate the confession. You are fine.

God Bless,
Matt

I think it’s time for you to tell your priest that you’re concerned about scrupulosity - how to avoid it and how to get over it.
