(Another) Confession Question

Went to confession and the priest was in a hurry. I admitted my grave sin [edited] He hurried me (he was late for mass) and I didn’t get to admit the details and sins that went along with that occurrence [edited]. (Note this was all one occurrence over a couple of hours). Do I need to go again?

It sounds like he hurried you and you thus forgot to say something?

Forgetting happens…if it was a mortal sin one needs to confess it in the next confession (we need to confess all our mortal sins in number and kind …and something that changes the sin…like it was your brother you murdered) (hiding a mortal sin intentionally…is another matter!)

(venial sins no worries…no need to mention next confession)

About the details. When confessing mortal sins you only need to state the kind of sin, the number of times you committed the sin, and circumstances if the circumstances changes its severity. For example, It’s one thing to kill someone by shooting him in the head, and another to kill someone by water torture. Killing someone by water torture is more severe, therefore you’d have to state how you killed someone, or who you killed (ie a stranger, or one of your parents.) You don’t need to go into details.

FYI… I went to confession again the next day.
The priest was a little perturbed at my coming to confession – he said all sins were forgiven the first time.

As long as you didn’t intentionally neglect to state any mortal sins the previous time, he’s correct.

On a side note: If one forgot a mortal sin…one is obliged to confess it in the next confession…once one remembers… (I presend from the original question…for I addressed it already)
