Another Jesus!!!!! Some help please

Okay I am sooo mad! I am so sick of evengelical Protestants saying that Mormons and Catholics have “another jesus” ahhhh I don’t even know how to respond anymore except that I took a religions in America course last Summer and learned about other religions but never ONCE was I told they had a different jesus that Protestants!

I’m sick of being told Catholics need to be saved. I know I’m ranting but come on people Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners and never ever said anyone was better than the other!

I think people forget when we talk about Jesus that he is inside of us. If you want to see God look in a mirror. I just don’t know what to do anymore! I’m frustrated as a catholic and frustrated that people bash other faiths by saying they don’t have the same God

My favorite line from a evengelical. They said the God of the Jews.

Wow maybe i’m worng but isn’t he the SAME GOD???

Blessed are they who are persecuted for Christ, for theirs in the Kingdom of God. (My paraphrase) Just remember that and smile whenever attacks you or accuses you falsely for being Catholic. 🙂
 
As a Roman Catholic, I profess…

I believe in God, the Father Almighty
Creator of heaven and earth

Who’s the other Jesus then???
 
Evangelical Christians that say that Catholics aren’t Christian, or that Catholics have a different Jesus than “their” Jesus, are so ignorant of their own religion, much less Catholicism, that the only thing you can probably do that is of any value is pray for them.

When confronted with this sort of comment, my son likes to ask Evangelical Christians about the status of their church back around the year 1500 or so. Of course most of them don’t even KNOW that most everyone in the Western world that was Christian back at that time was CATHOLIC. I suppose they might be shocked and offended to learn that their own Evangelical church is an offshoot of Catholicism. If we’re not Christian, then neither are they!

I feel sorry for anyone who needs to belittle others in order to feel good about themselves. Don’t be upset with these people, pray for them instead. They need help.

Leaving the Faith because of another person’s ignorance is truly a bad idea! Learn the Faith and preach the Truth and worry not what others say.

Keep the Faith!!

Patty, stick with what you know to be the Truth and pray for the person who belittles you. You know who Jesus is and you commune with Him at every Mass. “Bloodwashed” never communes with Jesus EVER. We’re the lucky ones.
 
Some people don’t know the difference between believing different things ABOUT Jesus and believing in a different Jesus. It’s like the expression, “You don’t know the — I know.” They think if you think Joe down the block has coffee after work and they believe he has martinis and shrimp, they feel it means “your Joe” isn’t “their Joe”. They use the same thinking when talking religion, but take it even more literally. That’s what it looks like to me.

I understand what you are saying but be careful who you say this to and how you say it because everyone needs the Savior and they may take it as you thinking that Catholics do not.

Secondly my reply to those who say that Catholics believe in a different Jesus is:
  • I believe in the Jesus of the Bible. Who is it that you believe in?..
Usually their assertion is much stronger than their argument… Stating, “you believe in a different Jesus” is far easier than proving such.

You need to be strong, there are 1.12 BILLION Catholics for a reason. I would put my head up high and be proud you are the faith and the church that Jesus founded. Every other religion is an off-shoot from ours. Theirs are man made, but not yours. Be strong, not weak.

Wow, I don’t know what to say. You’re really considering allowing someone else to have that kind of power over you? Especially a guy who belittles what others love?

this is great wisdom. this summs up the CC perfectly. for we know we been hated always by the whole world.

Pray for discernment. this will give you the understanding of what comes from God and what does not.
as we know Jesus rebuked the disciples in a few issues. why? because Jesus knew when satan spoke.
 
No, I have the same Jesus as Catholics. I can’t see how anyone would think differently.
 
Thanks everyone! I guess I’m just looking for a way to grow closer in my Catholic faith not further away
 
Then please take a break from everything you can and visit Jesus in adoration. Just be calm. IF you can’t do that, find some quiet time in prayer.

I’ve enjoyed reading this. I guess I understand the sentiment. Many protestant who say that Catholics aren’t worshiping the same Jesus are theological migits and understand nothing about chruch history. But since I don’t see any other protestants posting here I thought I would.

What Protestants mean by this is that they don’t believe Catholics have a personal relationship with Jesus. (I know I know how can you get more personal than taking the Eucharistic sacrament?) They see rote prayers and think it’s just religion. They have no idea that for many Catholics yes its true and they don’t know their faith but many are true believers and are servants of the Most High God and worship Jesus in spirit and truth. Most protestants can’t be spoken with because they “know beyond a shadow of a doubt” that you’re religious and do not have real faith. ( I know this is not true but what they say) Just learn your faith and teach the truth. Face them on historical standing and the early church. there is your strength and their weakness.

On the other hand. Mormons worship another Jesus! In their theology he is a demurge.
