Another lovely "confluence" of Feasts today!

Dear Brothers and sisters,

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity celebrated today, May 31, is also the date on which we celebrate the Marian Feast of the Visitation. Of course Solemnities are considered most important so we celebrate Liturgies in honor of the Holy Trinity today. Nevertheless, it seems a lovely “confluence” that both the beautiful Truth of God in Three Persons, and the Truth of His work in Mary appear on our calendars today.

Why do I see a “convergence” of these two like two rivers flowing together and meeting at a junction? As soon as God “visited” Mary’s womb as the Incarnate Word, we see in the same Gospel of Luke Mary goes with haste to visit Elizabeth to share the joy, the Good News.

God also “visited” our souls in Baptism, so we too are enabled to visit others with the Good News: “God so loved the world, He gave His only Son…” (Jn 3:16). We can share the Life of God given us in baptism with those who may have never heard of Him , or truly encountered Him.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church assures us:
…we are called to be a dwelling for the Most Holy Trinity: “If a man loves me”, says the Lord, “he will keep my word, and my Father will love him and we will come to him and make our home with him”…CCC paragraph 260

There is much to ponder today. Happy Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity! Happy and Holy Feast of the Visitation of Mary. Though we do not celebrate the latter “liturgically” we can celebrate in our hearts. Mary, praise of the Trinity, pray for us - help us to go with haste - praising Him and helping others to know, love and serve God as you did, in joy.

Thanks for your reply and encouragement. It was a Blessed Trinity Sunday for my husband and me and I hope it was for you too.

By God’s Grace, I try to think of Mary every day, not only during special prayer times but in the everyday chores around the house. I want to think more about how she remained a temple of the Holy Spirit, a dwelling place for the Trinity, for she was a human person as we all are and though she never sinned, and we have, I believe she is the Mother and Model for all of us.

She loves us in union with the Trinity now in unimaginable union and eternal happiness. She loves us as her children and wants us to share in that same happiness. Mary, Praise of the Trinity, pray for us.
