Just a quick question and I’m not looking for specific medical advice. šŸ™‚

Has anyone had their fertile mucous just disappear?
My cycle is completely regular, no abnormalities at all, but the last 2 months I have had no cervical mucous. Completely dry. I’m 37 y/o, so I’m just curious if this could be a precursor to menopause or not? If it continues I will call my doctor, but I thought I’d throw this out there to see if this has happened to anyone else.

(BTW, we have 3 kids and are TTA at this point.)

Thanks. šŸ™‚

37 seems a bit young to be premenopausal. I have had dry spells before but mostly when I was going through some irregularity when I was relatively young. Have you been under a lot of stress lately? That could throw you off. Also, have you considered taking a pregnancy test.

I think I’m kind of young too. I’ve just never had this happen before - at least not that I can recall. I have always been ā€œtextbookā€ regular. :o Stress could be a factor - although it’s more good stress than bad - DH just graduated from college, refinancing the house, planning a short vacation in June (DH’s graduation present šŸ™‚ ) Maybe that’s just it - I know ā€˜good’ stress can affect you just as much as bad. Definately not pregnant. Other than the dryness everything else has been normal - temperatures were a bit haywire last month, but eventually ended up with a definate shift where I could tell I ovulated. Before that they were all over the place. I even thought I might be pregnant because of that, but no - menstrual cycle came right on time. 🤷

37 is not too young to start having symptoms of perimenopause; I know that I had some signs from the time I was 35 or so, and was completely through menopause at age 43.

Time for a chat with your OB-GYN, and, perhaps, a blood test to determine your hormone levels.

Is decrease of cervical mucous one of the symptoms? Do you know what any of the others are?

Have you been on any medications such as allergy or sinus meds? Are you drinking enough water?

Some medications, specifically those for sinus or allergy issues can ā€œdry you upā€. Also, becoming dehydrated can influence the amount of mucus you have.

Just a couple of thoughts in addition to the possibility of perimenopause…

No medications at all. Just my regular vitamins/calcium. I’ve actually been trying to increase my water intake, but the amount I drink has been fairly consistent (i.e. I haven’t had less water in the last couple of months.)

Thanks for the suggestions though. I think I will google perimenopause and see what I can find out. I had previously just tried googling ā€˜decreased fertile mucous’ and similar phrases and just ended up with fertility/pregnancy sites/info. :o Not quite what I’m looking for. 😃
