Sorry for two post of quesions but i just found this one the web and was wondering about it.

**After Judas Iscariot committed suicide, Bartholemew was chosen to replace him by the remaining 11 (as Jesus had already ascended), but Jesus chose Saul, later called Paul, in a vision; the Bible isn’t completely clear on whether Bartholemew wasn’t God’s choice, or if Paul would be a 13th apostle.
**

In Mark chapter 3 verse 16-19 it names the 12 disiples. Bartholemew is one of them listed. There is no mention of paul at this time.

I do not know the source of this websites info but it would seem Paul replaced Judas because Bartholemew was already a disiple. How can they make such an error or am I missing somthing completly here?

You’re definitely missing a lot of things here! 🙂

First, Bartholomew was among the original 12 (as mentioned in Scripture). It was Matthias who **replaced Judas **Iscariot (read Acts 1:26)

I hope it should clear your doubt.

There were more than 13 Apostles. Barnabas, Andronicus and Junia are also called an Apostle:

Acts 14:13-15
" …the crowds wanted to offer sacrifice. 14 When the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting,"

Rom 16:6-7
7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my relatives who were in prison with me; they are prominent among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.

Membership in “the twelve” is different, and the HS guided the remainder to choose a replacement for Judas. There were probably many more Apostles not mentioned

Thank you, I appreciate the help. I had just finished reading the book of Mark and was looking at things on the web. When I saw that it didn’t make any sense to me so I had to ask. I didn’t see anywhere in the book of Mark any mention of other apostles.

Note that the Apostles specifically prayed before drawing lots, asking for God to show which one he chose to take the office.

Matthias was God’s choice.
