The concept of being “open to life” does not mean that you HAVE to be FERTILE…
There are plenty of women who have fertility problems… it’s perfectly fine for them to have sex even though they can’t conceive.
Also, Natural Family Planning allows couples to embrace during the infertile phases of a woman’s menstrual cycle (you’re only fertile for about 2 days during your cycle

) if the couple prayerfully decides that they have a valid reason to avoid conceiving at that time… this is perfectly valid within the teachings of the church too!
So yes, even though we are called to be “open to live” doesn’t say anything about fertility… it simply means that sex is to be done in a way that
could achieve life - it must be completed, and must not be done in any way where you’re purposefully trying to AVOID conception outside God’s design - by using artificial birth control.
