Well, i could say that i am a huge fan of medieval history and reading articles about the military clashes between Catholics and Protestants, Catholics and Orthodox Christians, or any other war where one of the decisive role of the Pope decided I can not hide the fact that I like to read it, yes, “love your enemy as yourself” - it’s always fits into our lives and we feel the divine grace when not responding to aggression, but I was not living in 1500, I just read and fond of history this time, and I sometimes hard to realize that I enjoy reading about, for example, the Thirty Years War, and many wars were exactly like this and all the Thirty Years War led to her, of course I’m not happy when deducted on or Calvinists or Huguenots killed during the medieval wars and sinful steps of history like that. But the role of the Pope at the time I am inspired by the faith and such pleasure as from reading a book, whether it is a sin?😊

This is perhaps a mater to be discussed with your confessor.

The reason I say this is because WHY it pleases you to read such material could play into whether something is sinful or not. In most cases I would say it is not sinful.
As a very crude - and I’m sure extreme - example…
If one reads such things to vicariously participate in the bloodletting…that could be problematic.
If one reads such things to understand what went on, the issues leading into the war and what situations were settled or not settled after the war etc, then there is really no problem.

But as I say this is most easily sorted out privately with your confessor.

Peace
James
