The Catholic charity on this thread is KILLING ME!

Charity on this thread… Social policy was its own comment.
That is the second time you have posted that…I sure hope you don’t mean it literally. I would hate to see someone die on account of this thread. 😉

From the historical record and inference. Like many aboriginal cultures, they occupied some of the largest surface metal deposits on the planet for thousands of years, yet never developed metallurgy. Heck, they never even developed the wheel.
Well, give them another couple thousand years and they might have created more advanced technology than we even have today. A different lifestyle means different developement.

Not necessarily. The aborigines of Tazmania, when first discovered, did not know to to create fire. “Instead, they depended on the firebrands that they carried and which they had to relight from a neighbor’s if their own fire went out.”

This is not from some white supremest website, this if from Jared Diamond, a noted anthropologist. findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1511/is_n3_v14/ai_13473115/pg_2

There are a number of problems with your statement:

The illegal pays LESS taxes overall than you think.

He pays social security only if the job required him to do so.

I was once approached by the owner of a place where I worked. He would pay me less money but would pay me cash. Basically he wanted me to be just as crooked as he was. I took the cash but reported it anyway. There were many people working at this place who wanted cash because they were also on welfare and food stamps.

Sales tax is something no one can get around except for small businesses. Did you ever wonder why a taco stand is next to a burrito stand in a Mexican neighborhood. It’s called getting low interest loans from Uncle Sam because you’re a minority. If Uncle Sam ever sees a return on any of it, it is because the guy caught in an ICE raid before he could go bankrupt and keep it all.

You obviously haven’t a clue about funding for education. It is from local, state and federal funds. The minorities get the most funding because they also declare themselves low income. Just ignore the 2008 SUV they pull up in.

In my town, the 92-96% hispanics get a $180,000.00 education at the US tax payers expense and only 70% graduate high school. In this neighborhood, only 25.5% is from local funds i.e real estate taxes. In an upper middle class white neighborhood the percentage is 88.4% local taxes. Yeah. They really pay their fair share. Right!

And I guess you’ve never walked into a county hospital. Mine used to be filled with hispanics until tremendous cutbacks had to be made for lack of funds. Then someone got the bright idea of checking people for picture IDs. That cleared half the hospital. But the bill is still due and many clinics were closed and doctors were fired because of lack of funds. Yeah! These illegals sure pull their weight.

OK Now for employment:
I guess you don’t live in Chicago where buildings have been falling apart because of shoddy construction by the expert Mexican construction companies. A few years ago, a couple of illegals set fire to a landmark baptist church when they were tarring the roof. The damage was in the millions of dollars. Yep. That was sure worth the savings for that roofing company.

Not to mention the invisible alien, with the proper fake IDs can take out loans, buy cars, get credit cards and have a better time with US taxpayer money than he ever could in Mexico and do very little work to get that money.

Now for the culture problem facing Americans.
Can’t speak Spanish? Sorry! You don’t get the job.
Municipalities as well as many businesses are now requiring people to be multi lingual and it better be Spanish! I guess you gringoes won’t get hired. Tough luck!

God Bless America!

Si!

I’m just quoting Pope Alexander VI catholic-forum.com/saints/pope0214a.htm
I know who you were quoting, this doesn’t explain to me YOUR understanding of barbarous though.
Sure, if you subscribe to the “all cultures are the same” mantra.
That’s a mantra? Of course they’re not all the same. What does that have to do with being or not being superior?
From the historical record and inference. Like many aboriginal cultures, they occupied some of the largest surface metal deposits on the planet for thousands of years, yet never developed metallurgy. Heck, they never even developed the wheel.
Well you can infer whatever you want from history, that doesn’t make it a fact, or even a good theory. Secondly, I wasn’t aware that God prized technological advances so much. He did allow His son to be born in a barn, you know.

Another place I lived in for about 5 years. You want to talk about racism? Move to Québec! There has been a long history of anti-semitism in Québec. And the premier, Lucien Bouchard, is on record saying “white Quebec women were not having enough babies”
findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4158/is_/ai_n14015679

But the liberal press at the time gave him a pass, because Francophones are a minority. The separatist Québec govenment has long promoted immigration from former French colonies because they felt their language was threatened. It backfired though because they got lots of immigrants from countries like Haiti, hence Bouchard’s statement.

When the separatists lost the 1995 referendum, the party leader, Jacques Parizeau, blamed it “money, and the ethnic vote”. In other words, the Jews and non-whites.
Mon Dieu!

Yes. This is for business reasons. It is not some insidious plot to take over the country. When a large number of consumers speak a foreign language, it helps increase your business to be able to speak to them in the language of their homeland. These same people being hired must speak English, so there goes your idea of people speaking only Spanish having a leg up. 🤷

We should still encourage the newcomers from any country to learn English, because that is the language of our country. It is silly, however, to have a problem with job requirements for a second language. I’ve seen requirements of Chinese and Japanese in some of the jobs I’ve been interested in, as well. Guess what? Knowing a second language can help when job hunting. The German I learned though has not been that helpful.

bookgirl32;

Sure they are, and it is out of frustration. They are becoming more and more angry because their leaders are favoring future votes from illegas, than to their existing constituancy.

Well yes and no. I will not loot in order to help the poor.

Although I would give this example, which was given to me by my priest and spiritual advisor:

But this may not be the case. Not all options have been exhausted. For example: I have not seen a revolution in Mexico. They need to take responsibillity in their own back yard first, not walk into mine.
Your example of bread made me think about something I saw on the “World at War” in an episode about the holocaust and the death camps.

One survivor talked about how people would behave when they were given this tiny piece of bread that was their only source of food. All the prisoners were locked in their building once they received this daily ration. If you did not eat that bread, it meant your life.

After being issued the ration of bread one day, a man had stolen a piece from an old woman. The woman had cried out that the man had stolen the bread from her. Justice was swift and merciless. There was no trial. The man was beaten to death.

I think that’s what they call justice.

Maui71;
Never said any of the above. It is against the law to come here or be here illegally.
Wages for unskilled labor unfortunately are a function of demand on the economy and not on labor supply. I mean really, the majority of the jobs taken by illegals are what? So if you send them back everyone of them overnight we will have an economic crisis
Housekeepers?
Lawncare labor?
Agri-workers?
Janitorial?
Construction labor? - Not journeymen or foreman or other skilled construction work.
Mechanics assistant?
Handyman?
Dishwasher (a large number of them)?

The wages for these types of jobs don’t fluctuate $20-$30 per hour from floor to ceiling but maybe $3-$7 from floor to ceiling.

I am not looking to argue with you but just point out that there is more to the situation than the “They are taking all our jobs and create all the crime and we are better off without them” statement and that there are viable solutions that do not include a Gestapo type of roundup and deportation.

Is that the Catholic idea of justice?

BTW…here is a better example from the concentration camps:

catholic-pages.com/saints/st_maximilian.asp
When food was brought in and everyone struggled to get his place in the queue so as to be sure of a share, Fr Maximilian stood aside, so that frequently there was none left for him. At other times he shared his meagre ration of soup or bread with others. He was once asked whether such self-abnegation made sense in a place where every man was engaged in a struggle or survival, and he answered: “Every man has an aim in life. For most men it is to return home to their wives and families, or to their mothers. For my part, I give my life for the good of all men.”
I think that’s what they call love and sacrifice. 👍

This would make sense if the countries that are in play were both equally poverty stricken, as the two in your story above. They’re not. Again, I’m for immigration reform, just a little charity when figuring it out, at the very least in your mindset, please.

When I lived in Arizona I remember watching news footage of the Latino protests, I think it was called “A day without Mexicans” or something like that. I’ll never forget the sign some guy was holding “No burritos for you!” On no, how can I live without burritos! lol

Seriously though, employers count on illegals for their cheap (slave) labor. This myth of “jobs Americans won’t do” is garbage, and John McCain proved it when he dared Americans to pick lettuce in Yuma for $50/hr. Needless to say, his office phone number was swamped with calls to take him up on his offer.

Between McCain and Obama, there’s just no big difference, just more of the same pandering.

How many actually went to pick? Just because his phone was off the hook doesn’t mean the people actually went to work for a whole season. Show me how many workded the whole season… Site the source too please I would really like to know.

Whenever I want to thank God I’m an American, I pullout the World at War series and watch the episodes on the holocaust. I remember the Polish man who had to dig graves and carry bodies so he wouldn’t be killed himself. He said, " You wouldn’t believe what a person won’t do just to live a few more minutes!"

Now compare Mexicans picking lettuce in America while American soldier were dying in France, Bataan, Belgium, Iwo Jima, etc.

Those same Mexicans filed lawsuits against the US on how they had to pay social security while they worked here and now they want to cash in.

I wonder how many American soldiers would have traded places with those abused Mexicans.

And whenever I want to thank God I’m Irish/British I watch a game of American ‘Football’ 😛 Doesn’t mean I think it should be illegalised.

What is God going to thank YOU FOR?**

Immediately after he made his condescending challenge, dozens of workers waited outside his office, but he never responded to them.

I have not heard of one person who he hired at $50/hr, obviously this was just rhetoric.

I prefer the actions of this man who won the Medal of Honor.

*FOX, JOHN R. Citation: For extraordinary heroism against an armed enemy in the vicinity of Sommocolonia, Italy on 26 December 1944, while serving as a member of Cannon Company, 366th Infantry Regiment, 92d Infantry Division. During the preceding few weeks, Lieutenant Fox served with the 598th Field Artillery Battalion as a forward observer. On Christmas night, enemy soldiers gradually infiltrated the town of Sommocolonia in civilian clothes, and by early morning the town was largely in hostile hands. Commencing with a heavy barrage of enemy artillery at 0400 hours on 26 December 1944, an organized attack by uniformed German units began. Being greatly outnumbered, most of the United States Infantry forces were forced to withdraw from the town, but Lieutenant Fox and some other members of his observer party voluntarily remained on the second floor of a house to direct defensive artillery fire. At 0800 hours, Lieutenant Fox reported that the Germans were in the streets and attacking in strength. He then called for defensive artillery fire to slow the enemy advance. As the Germans continued to press the attack towards the area that Lieutenant Fox occupied, he adjusted the artillery fire closer to his position. Finally he was warned that the next adjustment would bring the deadly artillery right on top of his position. After acknowledging the danger, Lieutenant Fox insisted that the last adjustment be fired as this was the only way to defeat the attacking soldiers. Later, when a counterattack retook the position from the Germans, Lieutenant Fox’s body was found with the bodies of approximately 100 German soldiers. Lieutenant Fox’s gallant and courageous actions, at the supreme sacrifice of his own life, contributed greatly to delaying the enemy advance until other infantry and artillery units could reorganize to repel the attack. His extraordinary valorous actions were in keeping with the most cherished traditions of military service, and reflect the utmost credit on him, his unit, and the United States Army.

It is important to know that he was an African-American and in 1944, what did he have to go home to. That is why this Medal of Honor is most important.

It is not what you do, it is why you do it. If I sacrifice my life for my country, it will be because of men like him and not the people of today.
