We are not elevating Latin to a doctrine. Trent said nothing about Latin.

Then it is possible I misunderstood you. I had to look up a couple of words just to follow your last post (I like the word you coined “polophone” ,btw). We all should have to do that some time. Oh, and don’t forget Aramaic and Hebrew in the first Century. I will have to remember this as yet another reason why an authoritative interpreter is logical and necessary when dealing with sola scriptura.

Again though, I do not know that anyone in the Church has ever said that Mass should never be celebrated in Latin. I think that was more of a Reformation problem.
