I hope I am asking this in the right forum.
This is yet another question (sorry) about what is/ is not appropriate to do on a Sunday.

I have signed up to take a standardized test, which is only offered once a year on a Sunday. I do not need to take the test, but I would enjoy it and it would be beneficial to my record.

Moreover:

Can. 1247 On Sundays and other holy days of obligation, the faithful are obliged to participate in the Mass.
Moreover, they are to abstain from those works and aVairs which hinder the worship to be rendered to God, the joy proper to the Lord’s day, or the suitable relaxation of mind and body.

Would taking a test not be suitable relaxation of mind and body? I’d probably have to get up early and commute and then take the test…

So, my question is this:
Provided that I fulfill my Sunday obligation, is it moral for me to take this test?

I thank you in advance for your answer. 😊

Pax.

In my opinion I would say to take the test. It is only offered on Sunday and you said that you would enjoy it. You are still attending Mass and you definitely recognize that Sunday is the Lord’s day or else you wouldn’t be here asking this question. Obviously the test is to better yourself in whatever it is that you are doing and you can use that for the glory of God. Like I said, this is my opinion and some may disagree but I say take the test and give thanks to God that you have the faculties to take it…teachccd 🙂

There is no problem with taking the test as long as you fulfill your Mass obligation.

the church teaches that you are aloud to study and do school work on Sunday, but if it’s still bugging you, just get permission from your priest.
