Through spiritdaily.com, I came across an article in *The Houston Chronicle *which discusses the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Unfortunately, in two place in the article, the author mentions “worshipping” the Virgin. I emailed him to try to set him straight, but perhaps you’d like to see the article and maybe do a better – and kinder – job of explaining things to him.

If I’ve misunderstood the article, please let me know. Otherwise, may God bless and Mary intercede for us all!

One of our priests was giving the talk tonight for RCIA (I’m on the team) and he ended the talk by mentioning the article. I’ve never seen Fr. L so infuriated! I was glad he told us that we have to stand up to our faith, especially when there is such falsehoods mentioned in the press.

How about e-mailing yet again, and politely asking for a correction? Also, a snail mail letter might get more attention. Think about having Father sign along with you.

Christ’s peace.

I e-mailed the author of the article and even posted a link to the Catholic Answers article on saint worship. I asked for a correction and an apology but I asked politely. 🙂

Thank you for getting back to him. When he responded to me, he pointed out that he had many years of education in a Catholic school. Why he didn’t understand what he had written – or perhaps he did – is beyond me. And the comments from readers underneath the column – as you can do in most online newspapers – were filled with anti-Catholic comments. Oh, well, I guess it shows the importance of education.

Merry Christmas to all! God bless!

Wow. You’d think the comments would be filled with outrage over the fact that he accused Catholics of worshipping Mary. All well, anti-Catholic bigotry is quite prevalent in our society.

Or, it shows the attitudes of the “New Scribes” Just as hard hearted as 2,000 years ago in some cases.

Christ’s peace, this Advent, Christmas, and the coming year.

Well, I received a reply to my e-mail and he said that he corrected the article and thought the corrections had been published. However, I just went to check and the article still says that we worship Mary. This just infuriates me! I can’t believe that they would not correct the article! UGH!

It would be printed as a retraction in the newspaper, not in the article itself.

And it is no longer available 😦 I wanted to read it.
