Dear All,

Thanks so much for your prayers – our “Annulment Workshop” was blessed. There were close to 60 in attendance including our own parish, two neighboring parishes, and some persons not affiliated with a parish since they were separated from the Church. Some I spoke to during a break after the first hour were hopeful and planning to submit petitions for a decree of nullity.

The speaker was, as last year, so very gracious in answering questions during the two hour workshop and willing to stay after the Workshop to answer more questions and/or offer help in any way possible. Everyone there received in abundance the true teaching and the love of the Church. May the Lord continue to work in each one and bring them all “Home”.

I’m so glad the workshop went so well and was a success! I certainly hope it “takes off as a trend” and more Churches will hold such a workshop. I offer prayers of Thanksgiving for answered prayers.

Mary.

Dear Mary,

Thanks for your reply and again, thanks for your prayers. The Pope has urged us to go with the Good Shepherd in searching for His Sheep, but the laborers are few. Please continue to pray the Lord of the Harvest to send laborers into the Harvest.

Praise God! I’m very happy to hear your parish is so active and that your workshop was a great success! May many more parishes follow their lead. God bless you and yours!

Gracious and merciful Father, we give you thanks.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Dear Hodegetria,

I praise God for the few He has given zeal to, for Jesus’ Mission, in my parish.

I continue to be sad, on the other hand, seeing many in the parish more concerned as Martha was (before she heard Jesus deeply in her soul). Too many in our parish, and in the Catholic Church, it seems to me, are “Too busy” – not about the Father’s Business, as Jesus told his Mother and St. Joseph He was, when they found Him busy sharing the Father’s Love with those in the temple. “Martha- like” activities can center more around fund-raising or even entertainment – whatever “pleases” people, while God’s business of sharing His good news, as Jesus did, and as He commanded His disciples to do (Mt 28) is left undone. The world grows darker when the Church does not give His Light through us.

I am grateful to my husband and to the lay woman who is our parish coordinator for annulments, as we worked to have this second Annulment Worshop offered. We three and another layman and two deacons are on the “Returning Catholics Team” trying to help our brothers and sisters come “home” to Our Father’s House. The majority of the parish seem not to be too concerned. I’ve struggled to get announcements in our parish bulletin and get announcements made before Mass, and even to have signs put up around the parish grounds. Parishioners don’t ask, “How was the Workshop” or “How is the Returning Catholics Program going?” or even “Is there anything I can do to help?”

On the other hand, there is much more activity and enthusiasm and parish advertising and volunteering for a yearly Bazaar and other fund raising activities, it seems to me. So please continue to pray with me for our parish, for your own parish and all the brothers and sisters in the Church. We have few laborers to carry on the work of Evangelization. Yet, “The Church exists to evangelize” as Pope Paul VI wrote in his encyclical on Evangelization in the Modern World. We need to continue praying to the Lord of the Harvest to send laborers into His Harvest. Thanks again, for your prayers, and…

…Thanks also to DoGodsBidding, tawny, njlisa and petra for your prayers! Prayer is more powerful than most of us realize. 🙂 Please pray also for the Legion of Mary which was given responsibility for this effort to re-evangelize Catholics, some years ago. They supplied the refreshments and served those who came to the Workshop. The dear woman who is our Annulment Co-ordinator is an Auxiliary Member of the Legion and the Three of us who served are members of the Queen of Peace Praesidium. The bulk of the refreshments were purchased from Legion of Mary funds.
