Well, always answer any phone as if there the other end is set up as a “conference call”! After that, talk as if you are being overheard by the worst possible person to be eavesdropping. Some day you will be, after all.

I say “Hello”

I used to say more romantic things, but once there was a call from my wife’s cell phone and I said something like “hey, lover” and I heard “gross”. Guess my oldest daughter didn’t appreciate dad talking to her like that. Now I assume it’s one of my kids. 😉

When I call her she generally answers “what do you want?” Seems dealing with 4 little ones all day can make her a tad short sometimes. I expect when number 7 is here in January it will be shortened to “What?” 😃
If I call my dad with mom’s phone and he answers like that, I would respond with an " eewww". 😃
Joe calls me 3 times daily. On each break and at lunch. He tries to speak to me in Spanish. It’s hilarious. 😃
You two are a fun-romantic and happy couple. 😃
My husband and I don’t call eachother at work…We text
Oh!!! I forgot to put that option on the poll. 👍

That’s actually more likely to happen with us. My wife generally only calls if it’s something important… that or if my ringer is off and I’ve ignored 3 or 4 texts. :o

My father used to call the house and say, “wife or daughter??” According to him, my mom, my sister and I all sounded alike. 🤷

My husband and I talk often. He is in his own office and has the flexibility to talk on the phone when he wants to. Although there are certainly times where he can’t talk.

I work part time. If I don’t have a customer, my boss (the pastor of our parish) doesn’t seem to have a problem with me being on the phone.

I went with “like talking to a neighbour” because we try to keep it short, practical and not sound too unprofessional, so no lovey-dovey-kissy “you hang up first” stuff if we’re at work.

So far neither of us has had a “no phone calls” policy at work, but we try to keep it down to the necessary questions and text for less important things like what he wants for lunch (since I’m home now), shopping lists or plans for the afternoon.

My husband has two phones, one given to him and paid for by his company (calls limited to his coworkers, texts not limited) and a private phone for everything else. I know both, but I use the private one and only use his work number if he’s not answering and I really need to talk to him urgently.

Thanks to call ID, I usually answer, “Mrs. Masuwerte’s personal assistant, how may I assist you?” 🙂 Either that or “Masuwerte’s Pizza, pick up or delivery?”
