“The idea that our genus originated more than 2.5 million years ago as part of a turnover pulse in direct response to climate change has a deep history in paleonthropology,” Dr. Barr said. “My study shows that the magnitude of that pulse could be caused by random fluctuations in speciation rates. One implication is that we may need to broaden our search for why our genus arose at tht time and place.”
Traits that make humans different from our ancestors, like larger brains and greater technological sophistication, could have arisen for a variety of reasons, he said.

Tree falls over in storm. Expert says: ‘Wind may have had something to do with it’.

Firstly, it’s palaeoanthropology . Paleso and Anthropology is looking at the development of society and settlement in response to changes in climate. At how successful we were surviving ice ages and drought.

It’s widely thought for example, Jesus was born into drought conditions. And think of that, when reading or learning the Gospel , esp the part where when Jesus surrender His life, it rained heavily.
Context is everything.

We as a species don’t survive without water. When we were hunting, our prey needed green grass and water, they died, we died. Ice age = drought. And cold of course.

In reading that I would ask if it’s published as a peer review and what the ‘by chance’ means.

Does it mean by chance of climate? The biggest climatic event to shape our survival was the flood. And that had The Hand of God. I saw a rainbow this morning. 🌈🕊️

Have you guys seen the Netflix doco ’ in Search of the Exile’. There is a tomb in Egypt believed to have been Joseph’s

God acts through natural events.
Actually, the belief in divine providence is a belief that God always acts through such events, who guides them as He desires. If the birth of first humans seemed to be a quirk of events, it is a quirk God lies behind. In this perspective, there is no such thing as a purely accidental event. Even our own birth is not simply an accidental event, but God wanted us to exist.

In some cases, the “big bang” seems to involve the scientist’s head and a blunt object.

I assert that the human race was born when Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall. But the argument which arises is: Which came first, the Anthropologist or the egg?

Right. And when we have floods or tsunamis or earthquakes that kill thousands of people…it’s God doing it on purpose. Though many theists do not want to ascribe those tragedies to the god they believe in.

Romans 8:22-24

22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning in travail together until now; 23 and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved.

The world was broken after the fall of man. Before that it was very good, like God said. We do need to make reparation our sinfulness. No one is innocent, for all have sinned.

Right. And when we have floods or tsunamis or earthquakes that kill thousands of people…it’s God doing it on purpose. Though many theists do not want to ascribe those tragedies to the god they believe in.

.
Correction: “many theists” offer an explanation besides, “God felt like it”.

The Lord came for them at that time.

I want to be ready when my time is up!

Praise be to the Good Lord forever!

I think the two oldest answers to the natural component of “the problem of evil” is a supernatural evil with temporal powers similar to that of God or the echos of The Fall ringing across the creation that was meant to sustain now-fallen man.

Your hinted presentation of “God did these evils or there is no God” is a rather unnecessary false-dichotomy. It’s just internally consistent with your views, thus you hold to it. 🤷

The tail wagging the dog, as it were.
