Both Orthodox & Catholics are strong in the Anti-Abortion beliefs, prayers and philanthropic action!
Both are anti-abortion in belief which is grounded in Sacred Scripture and the Didache as well as other Church Fathers. Both have remained through out Christian History, Anti-Abortion.
The Orthodox have the Akathist of Repentance which was written by translated into English from Russian also in the late 20th Century. This Akathist of Repentance which can either be said by someone who has had one or more abortions or can be offered on behalf of a woman who’s had abortion(s) or of doctors who have preformed them can be obtained from St. Paisius Serbian Orthodox Monastery: www.stpaisiusmonastery.org
The Catholics have the Pro-Life Rosary which was started by a vision a woman (I’m pretty sure it was that woman from Santa Maria, CA) had in the late 20th Century. This Rosary has different color beads on each decade for different intentions and can be obtained from Easter’s Catholic Books and Gifts: www.eastersbooks.com
Both Catholic and Orthodox run Maternity Homes that dot the United States offering food/shelter and spiritual direction for those woman who find themselves pregnant and in need of such assistance.
A famous Pro-Life Orthodox Priest-Monk is: Fr. Demetrios of the Holy Nativity of the Theotokos Monastery in Saxonburg, PA.
A famous Pro-Life Catholic Priest is: Fr. Frank, I think he’s from Alabama with EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network - a Catholic T.V. Station).
We, as Anti-Abortion Christians, must stand up together for the upcoming events:
40 Days for Life
and the 2008 Election.
Both will have a huge impact on the future of those babies who are yet unborn. If you are not already, please get involved!
Let’s do what we can to change the hearts and minds of every woman, not just the politians. (Changing of the hearts and minds is so important because as I walked in San Francisco earlier this year at the Pro-Life March, there were people on each side of the roads with signs and screaming that if it the law were to change, making abortion illegal, they would continue to have abortions even if it meant that they’d do it themselves with hangers). Let’s do what we can to affect positive change!
