For the same reason why some Protestant missionaries go to primarily Catholic Christian countries - many (not all, of course) Protestants don’t believe that Catholics are Christians. I’m sure the same applies when it comes to the Orthodox. There are many groups of born-again Evangelical Protestants (again, not all) that believe that the only Christians are “born-again” Christians; there are some Protestant sects that believe that their specific sect, and ONLY their specific sect, should be considered Christian. People in these sects don’t even consider fellow born-again Christian sects to be Christian!
 
I have a friend who proudly announced that her husband was going on a mission trip - to Switzerland. I suppose he was feeding the poor there as well?

He’s probably thinking of making a side trip to Austria, so he can convert the Von Trapps. Maybe he’s a big fan. That’s a looooooooooot of conversions! 😃

LOL! So he went to beg for food for himself…in a country with per capita income hovering around $80,000…
 
When I was in high school, the local presbyterian youth group went on a mission trip to Branson every summer.

To be blunt missionaries go to other Christian countries (Orthodox and Catholic) to take Christians that don’t believe as they do and entice them to join their denomination. My friends traveled to Russia and other countries and that was their intention. They cound not speak the language, only stayed for two weeks and it was like a vacation. Before they left they asked others to pay their way. Also while in Russia they were very close to Muslim communities and would NOT try to bring Christ to them. They only focused on Christians.

As Catholic Christians, of course, we want all people to know the fullest that the Church brings, however, I have never heard of Catholics going after other Christians.

Catholics are and have been accused of it in Eastern Europe, but in the West not so much. Perhaps we should, at least in regard to protestants.

Not evil, misguided and oft times comical.😃

Unfortunately, sometimes zeal trumps wisdom and they get themselves and others in a heap of trouble.

Sometimes, definitely not always though. We’re not all morons or out to getcha, that’s for sure.

Also, my friend is in Swaziland! Not Switzerland, sorry for the mistake.

Though I don’t mean to draw an exact parallel by any means, I’m going to point out that your statement probably could have been appropriately said by a member of the established Jewish leadership while St. Paul was traveling around stirring up trouble.

From some people here, it consistently reads to me like exasperation, which I understand. From others it does read like an attempt at arrogant mockery.

Sure, but St. Paul was accurate on the facts and on theology. The same can’t be said for many “evangelical” American missionary types, nor Mormon missionaries, nor JW missions, nor Moonies, nor Jews for Jesus.
