I just came across a new one today: Catholics do not believe in the Blessed Trinity!

WHAT are people being told these days by their preachers?

The Roman Catholic Church even has a specific Sunday reserved for the Blessed Trinity. Not only that, but the Sign of the Cross IS the Trinity!

:banghead:

There was a website that claimed that the Catholic God is one of the most hateful gods ever. And how did they prove it? By showing the pamphlet for preparing for a confession.

By citing all the things one must think about before confession (ie. have I lusted, have I stolen, have I used the Lord’s name in vain, et cetera), they claim that this proves that the Catholic God is evil and hateful.

I totally see the exact opposite when thinking about what I’ve done. 🤷

In my experiences, God seems to be pretty easy-going with me. That is, whenever I’m a good boy. 😃

I recently talked with a person about Church infalliblity. I told him that the Magisterium is guided by the Holy Spirit in order to teach infallibly in faith and morals. He told me there is no such thing as Church infalliblity (of course), and just because the Church is guided and listen to the Holy Spirit it does not mean they are guided infallibly.

Can that be considered as a whopper?

There was one that I read that stated that Bl. John Paul II helped the Nazis kill Jews in the gas chambers.

…I don’t even know.

Checkout this website!!! It is very Anti-Catholic and has very information and history. There some great numbers that believe this guy!!

How you stop blog sites like this one…its very sick and wrong against Truth!

Sad, really. I love Whoppers. If my heart valves would not threaten to close permanently shut on the mere sight of one, I’d enjoy one now.
I worked at a BK in college, the burgers are actually quite lean and not likely to clog your arteries, let alone your heart valves. The machine they use to flame broil them allows all of the fat to drip off of them to a grease tray below, while the buns are sent through the top for toasting; unlike McD’s who put both bun and burger on a flat griddle, the same one that eggs, bacon and sausage was cooked on for breakfast, so everything sits on an oil slick. Skip the cheese, and ask them to hold the mayo (as those are what make the Whopper unhealthy) and enjoy. Just not too often, because the high sodium content isn’t good for your heart either. Also, skip the fries and/or onion rings. Have the ‘Apple Fries’ or Crisp Garden Salad instead.

As for the subject of the thread; Fred Phelps and the lovely members of the infamous Westboro Baptist Church have a website devoted to Anti-Catholic Whoppers. No link provided, but I guarantee you will find it in a search, add the words ‘priest’ and/or 'pedophile and I guarantee it will come up in a search. Among many whoppers claimed by Phelps et all, is this erroneous claim: “The Catholic Church is the largest, most well-funded and organized pedophile group in the history of man!”.

At least the media is no longer extending to them their 15 minutes of fame, it was nice to not hear about the latest picket as the nation buried and mourned the soldiers who served on Seal Team Six and The Green Berets that were killed in that Chinook attack. Yeah, they picketed every funeral, but we never heard about it because the media now ignores them. 👍

Yes, the stuff on the website is ludicrous (Did you know that we “eat of wafers and grape juice, usually available in small packets, at every meeting”?) I’ve never seen grape juice, nor have I see these “small packets” they claim the wafers and grape juice come in. This website is definitely full of whoppers; double, triple, even quadruple. Hold the pickles!

I read the same section of that website, and they are sadly misinformed that the iConfess app for the iPhone is a substitution for Confession. Apparently they missed the verse in the Bible where it talks about bearing false witness. I also remember them writing something about World Youth Day back in 2008. They said something along the lines of all the youth getting raped at WYD.

They make me LOL.

These are the anti-Catholic comments I have recieved on Youtube.

The Catholic Church outlawed a vast amount of writings, science was thought to be witchcraft, so much of the technological advancement made by the Romans was lost.

The Roman Catholic Church kept Europe in a state of ignorance and kept the information they had very much to themselves. They went absolutely spare when the first attempt was made to translate the Bible into English (in fact they executed the first man who did it). It was the Ancient Greeks to whom we owe much of Western Civilisation.

The Papal Bull of 1493 which granted the ENTIRE New World and ALL its residents as the property of the Spanish and Portuguese and their descendants FOR EVER.

I find the argument that the Catholic Church helped the Ku Klux Klan and the Communists hilarious, honestly, considering how much both groups hate the Catholic Church.

I think the Pope Joan Myth can be considered one of the biggest anti-Catholic whoppers out there (it is an example of anti-papal satire that has been around for approximately 800 years, meaning that it even predates the anti-Catholic writings that stemmed from the Protestant Reformation).

In addition to this I would add Loraine Boettner’s Roman Catholicism which has widely fueled anti-Catholic sentiment for nearly 50 years.

Plus anything Jack Chick says about Catholicism.

Such things do not arise from simple misunderstandings of the Catholic Faith, but are rather intentional distortions crafted to display the Church in a highly negative manner.

(As a side note, that whopper in the OP photo looks KINDA good!)
:eek::eek::eek: that is disturbing on SO many levels.

My personal favorite is that the “Vatican” (not the Church, but the “Vatican” itself!) created Islam. I always get a kick out of that. 😃

my friend who is coming into the church next year got asked, Do the Catholics believe in Jesus?

Here’s some I’ve heard, all of which were from commenters on YouTube:

-Protestantism was the first Christian denomination, and the Catholic Church was eventually created by Emperor Constantine, who was the first Pope, and the Crusades were all about Catholics killing “SAVED” Christians. This person also claimed to have previously been Catholic.

-Another person (who I got in a message war with), claims the same Constantine-Created-Catholicism Conspiracy Theory, except he believes Constantine worshiped the “Sun God”, and when Constantine created Catholicism, he moved the Sabbath to “SUNday” because of this. He acknowledges the fact that the Protestant Reformation occurred, and all of those denominations broke from Catholicism, but he considers them to be based on Pagan beliefs because they broke from Catholicism, and the church he claims to go to is a “tradition-keeping church” (he wouldn’t say what denomination it was, and he said he’s not JW or SDA), which he claims was basically the first, and apparently only, true Christian Church. He also doesn’t celebrate any Christian holidays, as he considers them to be Pagan (he actually believes The Bible warns against people who use Christmas Trees, and the quote he provided sort of does, but he cut off the last sentence, which says “do not fear them, as they can do no evil, nor can they do good”, which of course would destroy his whole claim. Not to mention that the surrounding quotes don’t support the quote at all, so the whole quote is taken out of context). Definitely weird, and I’d really like to know what kind of denomination he follows. Is it possible it’s some extremely-fringe non-denominational “Christian” outfit completely made up by some really self-important pastor? And this guy also used to be a Catholic.

-Another quote is actually a reply on 5-Star Amazon review on Boettner’s masterpiece, and the guy who made it is either delusional, but most likely a flat-out dishonest liar. First of all, he claims he has studied Catholicism using its own theological works, and can assure that Boettner’s claims are accurate (pretty much shows he’s a liar from the get go). But then he claims he once heard a priest say “Either the Catholic Church is true and the Bible is a lie, or the Bible is true and the Catholic Church is a lie. The two cannot be reconciled.” And he also claims the Constantine Conspiracy Theory, and he accuses the Catholic Church has being a “man-made” religion.

Catholics/Christians can do whatever they want since all they have to do is attend confession and be forgiven. If not, then Jesus will forgive their sins on their death bed. All of a sudden the confessional box is an insurance company!

Haven’t looked at all 11 pages of replies. Has anybody mentioned the one about the Jesuits organizing Lincoln’s assassination?

I read one guy’s website where, after suggesting that he’s the only “true” Christian evangelist/prophet out there…though there may be others he doesn’t know about…he goes into the history of the ECF’s and, recognizing that their views were identical to modern Catholicism, claims that this is proof that “these Catholic liars” had infiltrated Christianity and began spreading the “false gospel [as early as] 80 AD”.
