Anti-Catholic workplace?

I’m a secure Catholic, and I’m not thin-skinned. However, there have been many incidents. My employer has a policy that REQUIRES us to report these things, so I did.

Lets get this right … you felt absolutely forced, kicking and screaming, by a secular workplace rule to report this lest you be punished in some unnamed way for failing to do so . Please give us a break.

This sort of insignificant, somewhat self-righteous carry-on gives real Catholicism and virtue a bad name I suggest.
Your current explanation for your actions, if you actually mean it, seems more about a young man’s power-trip than helping God and Catholicism to me.

It’s not insignificant. This is no different than a racial stereotype. It’s a PC world and in a PC world Catholics need to stick up for what is offensive to them. Otherwise, they are going to be the only group that doesn’t.

I remember this happening in public school. I asked a co-worker next to me if she remembered this in public school, and she did. Her teacher hit them with rulers for using their left hand rather than her right, and she noted they would use their left hand until they saw the teacher might notice, then switch to their right.

Funny, same thing happened to me in Catholic school. The nuns insisted that everyone learn to write with their right hands, even if that child was naturally left-handed, like me.

Rulers were used. Also pointers (you know, long wooden rods for pointing at things on the blackboard).

Doesn’t seem to have done me any permanent harm. I would have been amused more than anything else by the situation at the OP’s workplace.

This is why I was wondering in my original post whether I should have just not said anything. I think that there are differences in opinion about it, and responses indicate that as well.

I had a public 1st grade teacher who used masking tape to tape a child in my class’ left thumb to his hand in order to encourage him to write with the other hand. That was in the 80’s. I guess that’s less barbaric than hitting him, but still…

Its funny that the two of us, who are old enough to have actually experienced these things personally, are both amused by the nun-decoration .
