I went to this guys website and he is certainly out in left field. Here is a bit:

THE WHOLE WORLD IS UNDER THE POPE OF ROME

The letter to write to all churches from Kerbote. This regional meeting

started on the 19th of May 1985. The aim for the meeting was to unite

all churches and governments of the world.
Code:
                                           Changing the Bible
From 1st of June there was a multitude of people ranging 800,000 who

agreed unanimously to change Biblical contents. Those are: II

Corinthians 6:14-18 & I Corinthians 6:6-16 to be erased and removed

from the Bible.

August 29th, 1985 they published 16 Directives. THUS:
  1. No one will send a letter in the Post Office without the symbol of

    a number 666.
  2. No one will work in an office or take part in any kind of work

without the symbol of number 666.
  3. All schools in the world: No child will learn if his/her parents

don’t have the symbol of number 666.
  4. Weapons will be brought near guarding those buying and selling to

ensure that they have the symbol of number 666.
Kooks like this are all over the place. As you can see he posted this as coming to pass in 1985. I can still mail a letter without using 666.

I’ve seen this on the history channel. mainly the part about the 666. I think he’s been watching too much of the history channel and needs to come back to reality.

Anti-Catholicism is a virus that infects many Protestants, but seems to be most prevalent among Baptists for some reason.
i have a friend who is Baptist. i converted to the Catholic church 18 months ago. even though she hasn’t come out and directly said anything to me, i know she is holding something back. i happened to mention once that i only had Catholic bibles in my house and my protestant bibles were still packed up since i moved. she asked if Catholic bibles were different than protestant bibles and i answered that there are more books in the Catholic bibles. she absolutely was shocked and wanted to know what they were. i could tell that between that time and the next time we spoke, she must have spoken with someone at her church because i noted a difference in her like someone had warned her about the Catholic faith and what we believe. she is a wonderful Christian woman and is so faithful and has so much confidence in her faith. she loves the Lord, but i also think that to her, she somehow believes she has a better relationship with Jesus than i do.

I recently heard a quote from St. John Neumann (paraphrasing): “When you embrace history, you cease being Protestant.”
“And this one thing at least is certain; whatever history teaches, whatever it omits, whatever it exaggerates or extenuates, whatever it says and unsays, at least the Christianity of history is not Protestantism. If ever there were a safe truth, it is this. And… Protestantism, as a whole, feels it, and has felt it. This is shown in the determination already referred to of dispensing with historical Christianity altogether, and of forming a Christianity from the Bible alone: men never would have put it aside, unless they had despaired of it… To be deep in history is to cease to be a Protestant.”

You’ll get that alot. People like that don’t like the fact that you planted a seed.

Be a kind and gentle gardener, and help that seed to grow.

We had a woman in RCIA that came from a very fundamentaly based Baptist Church, where her son was the pastor. She tried 4 times to make it through. Each time someone at the Baptist Church convinced her it was wrong.

Finally, the 4th time through, she made it through to Easter Vigil, and received the Sacraments of Initation.

She did great, until she literally got cornered at a resturaunt after Mass one Sunday. I mean, literally cornered. She ran into some friends from her old church, and sat with them in a booth, and they wouldn’t let her out.

Being a neophyte, she couldn’t answer everything they were throwing at her, and you could see it was really getting to her. We could overhear part of the conversation, and some of the totally unfounded comments being made about the Catholic Church.

A friend of mine and myself went over to the table, explained to the “church ladies” that what they were saying about the Church was untrue, and they were spreading false information. At that point, we asked our neophyte if she would like to rejoin us for breakfast, and they reluctantly let her leave the table.

As we were heading back to our table, I turned to the “church ladies”, and politely told them that if they wanted to know the truth about the Catholic Church, they were more than welcome to join us at our table, or to come to RCIA or Mass.

You could have heard a pin drop. Needless to say, they didn’t join us, and I haven’t seen them at Mass, or at RCIA.

The saddest part of it all is that our neophyte went back to that church. We do keep in touch, and she has told me that she misses the Catholic Church, but she is scared of losing all of her Baptist friends.

All we can do is pray for her, and continue to support her. I like to think that she is planting all sorts of seeds in that Baptist Church.

yes, these protestants and baptists can be very persuasive and perservering. they are almost scary. they try to make you feel like you are in some kind of cult. i was raised in the episcopal church which they see almost as bad as the Catholic church and an evangelical friend of mine just couldn’t understand what i saw in Holy Communion and the liturgy in our episcopal church. she was none too happy when she found out that i joined the Catholic church. in fact, she has not spoken to me since. i attended her church several times. her pastor was really in to calvinism. i just couldn’t take it after awhile and finally left. i don’t doubt their faith, but i just felt like she had to keep proving herself!! i just didn’t agree with many of their teachings. i haven’t spent any time in a baptist church, but i know that i would not fit in.

That is one of the cool things about being Catholic.

All of the arguments others throw at us have been around for years, and years, and years. It is just the same ol stuff hashed over and over, never anything new.

Sometimes its like they are the new kid on the playground trying to show how tough they are. Only to learn that there is only one king on the playground, and it ain’t them.

👍 yes, i think they feel the Catholic church is antiquated and irrelevant because it has been around for so long. little do they know how wrong they are in their thinking.
they definitely act like the new kid on the playground and bullying is something they are good at. annoying is another good word for it. however, if you ever spend a lot of time at a typical protestant bookstore, there is a kind of emptiness there. so many different bible translations to choose from and different commentaries and study guides written by different preachers. but you are still hungry after all of this. i feel that in the Catholic church you have a fullness and aren’t really searching for answers anymore. maybe that is too simplistic, but there is a lot of fluff out there in the protestant world.

I don’t understand that attitude? If anyone would have a potential for a “better” relationship with Jesus, it would be the Catholic over the Baptist Every time since Catholic don’t just receive Jesus into their hearts, but also receive Him in the Eucharist.

i agree with you, but i don’t think they see it that way. they don’t have an understanding of the Eucharist in the Catholic faith.

You can state what we believe, in a civilized, tactful, meaningful manner. If that doesn’t work, you shake the dust from your feet and move on. You have done your job, as Christ did.
I didn’t have a verse of scripture in my mind at the time but that is precisely what I did at LibraryThing recently when I encountered anti-Catholic rhetoric from its founder/developer on a discussion forum. It was one thing to deal with the usual anti-Catholic sludge oozed up by the resident atheists et al, but when I was labelled a homophobe by a fellow Catholic there I realized it was time to move on.

I do the same for holocaust deniers, Jesus Deniers and atheists who wish to spew anti-God hatred. There’s a great deal of wisdom in that “shake the dust from your feet and move on”

i was just speaking with my baptist friend about Haiti. she said they need to have someone go in and teach them the Gospel. i reminded her that 80% of the country was Catholic. she got quiet - like she was thinking that wasn’t good enough. the people don’t know the gospel through the Catholic church. so i guess she feels they need more protestant missionaries over there.

.

I’ve been told, REPEATEDLY, that I’m “anti-Catholic,” that I “hate” the Church, that all I do is “bash” The Catholic Church. I’m been labeled that SO often that I rarely respond any more…

Here is my position on The Catholic Church. And typically, those that call me a “hate monger” and “anti-Catholic” are well aware of my position: I affirm that The Catholic Church is, in every sense and to the full sense, valid - and I hold it in high esteem. I regard her ministries, ministers and Sacraments to all be valid. I regard nothing it officially teaches to be “heresy” or contrary to Scripture and/or Tradition. I overwhelmingly agree with her (my priest said ‘a lot more that most Catholics’ - and he’s probably right). I regard all in her to be my full, unseparated and equal brothers and sisters in Christ. And I pray daily and ernestly for God’s greatest blessings to her, her ministries and ministers and Holy Father. I was richly, richly blessed during my years as a Catholic and I’m very, very grateful for that. That’s my position. Now, I’ve sometimes asked if they would say AT LEAST as much about my new organization (The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod) - but not one has EVER responded - only to continue their insistance that I’m a hate monger, I constantly bash The Catholic Church, I call the Church evil and satanic and a cult (none of which I’ve EVER done)- on and on.

I’ve come to this conclusion. While irrational hatred toward The Catholic Church no doubt exists (as no doubt also exist toward Protestants), I think all this “how come everybody’s always pic’n on pur me” thing is overdone. And often just not true.

Look, I disagree with The Catholic Church on EXACTLY the same issues that it disagrees with me about - to exactly the same degree. But read what I say and believe about The Catholic Church. And read what The Catholic Church has said (lately anyway) about Protestants. It’s not hate. It’s not anti.

Perhaps one day all will get past that, and begin to engage in respectful, honest, real discussions - as full, equal, unseparted brothers and sisters in Christ. Maybe…

How do you deal with anti Catholics like Rev. Stair:mad: from Overcomer ministries and why do they say such nasty things, what leads them to believe that Catholocism is evil?
i think the good rev. stair is in prison for relations with underage girls. dont need to worry about him. he took care of himself.peace be to you.

My BIL was a missionary there and I was over there short term…You would be surprised at the amount of catholicism/voodoo mix that shows up in the people there…My BIL was part of a mission to provide water/ irrigation for villages…People do turn to Christ from theirs and other mission works there…

is that any worse than underaged boys

Since the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, you can always find his Church in every age since Pentecost by the stripes the body of Jesus Christ has received throughout every age in recorded history to date in his Catholic Church;

John 15:16
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
17
This I command you: love one another.
18
7 "If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first.
19
If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you.
20
Remember the word I spoke to you, 8 ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
21
And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, 9 because they do not know the one who sent me.
22
**If I had not come and spoken 10 to them, they would have no sin; but as it is they have no excuse for their sin.
23
Whoever hates me also hates my Father. **
24
If I had not done works among them that no one else ever did, they would not have sin; but as it is, they have seen and hated both me and my Father.
25
But in order that the word written in their law 11 might be fulfilled, ‘They hated me without cause.’
